A new ad from the Democratic National Committee attacks Republican presidential candidates for using the term “radical Islam.” Entitled “Inciting fear isn’t presidential,” the ad argues that the use of the term is offensive to Muslims.

I’ve seen my share of nasty, bizarre, and over-the-top political ads. But this may be the first that I can honestly say is just plain stupid.
To begin with, the ad is horribly tone-deaf. I don’t doubt that the decision-makers in the Democratic Party are horrified by the phrase “radical Islam.” But a new poll released today on the issue found that a supermajority of Americans agree that the United States is at war with radical Islam, including 56% of Democratic voters. Only 24% of the country agrees with the president. So right off the bat, the Democratic Party is attacking Republicans for a stance their own voters agree with.
But of course, the ad attacked Republicans for just saying “radical Islam,” not saying we’re at war with it. Well, 92% of Americans also say “radical Islamic terrorism” is a serious threat to the United States. But hey, at least the DNC is making inroads with that 8%.
To say nothing of the timing behind the ad. Literally any other time of the year, voters might have just rolled their eyes at the unbearable PC-ness of it all. But the DNC ad comes after a series of major terrorist attacks across the globe… and after President Barack Obama gave a speech in response that left the impression that he was more fired up about attacking his domestic critics than taking on ISIS. To attack Republicans for “inciting fear” about radical Islam in the wake of nonstop news about radical Islamic terror is just an unbelievable misfire.
But setting aside the politics of it all, the ad is simply insulting to the American voter’s intelligence. “Equating Islam, all Muslims, with terrorists is oversimplification and wrong,” the ad reads as somber music plays.
I think we can all agree that’s true. But in all the clips of Republican candidates that the ad shows, they never once say that the religion of Islam is the enemy, or that “all Muslims” are terrorists. They’re literally just saying the words “radical Islam,” “radical Muslims” and “radical Islamic terrorism.”
The inference the DNC appears to making here is astonishing. To even allude to the fact that radical Islam exists is now “equating Islam, all Muslims, with terrorists”? Even the most politically correct among us would roll their eyes at that notion.
I’m going to go ahead and assume that the Democrats are being intentionally dishonest, because the alternative is that they are incapable of intelligent thought. The fact of the matter is that most Republicans, most Democrats, and indeed most Muslims are capable of understanding and believing two separate ideas, neither of which conflict:
To treat the latter statement as a denial of the former isn’t just manifestly unfair, it’s throwing logic itself out the window.
What really irks me is that it would be soooo much easier to cut this ad using actually offensive statements about American Muslims from Republican candidates. But then it would just be an attack ad on Donald Trump, with a brief cameo from Ben Carson. In order to tar every Republican, the DNC overstepped and declared nearly every American a bigot.
To which this conservative says: I hope to see more ads like this from the DNC in future.

Ever since Mohammad got his first erection starring at ten year old girls and two year old sheep, Islam has been a cancer on earth and a threat to every civilization it has encountered. There may be billions of Muslims, but most are not by choice. It is convert or die so they become MINOs (Muslim in name only). Look where Islam has dominated, do you find art, inventions, peace? What you find is oppression, technology where present is from from the west and a lack of art and beauty. Islam is a death cult for people and cultures.
There is a well-known radical Christian sect in America today, the Westboro Baptist Church.
We all know they are not Baptist or Christian but they self-identify as such.
I am fully willing to call their acts radical Christianity. But even though they are radical, rude and horrible, they do not kill anyone. To fight them one just needs to get between them and the military funeral they are disrupting.
The commercial? Bush: “Islam is peace”.
These folks should hire new consultants.
Radical Islam should be offensive to Muslims?
So instead of saying “Radical Islam” is responsible for this....
Should we just say “Islam”.....
Because that is the message the Libs are apparently wanting to say....
I think saying “Radical Islam” actually does a SERVICE to the secular non-practicing laspsed Muslims.
Someone should call the libs out on this, tell them, well we can either call it “islam” or “radical Islam” take your pick.
I know when the IRA was bombing in Norther Ireland the Media ALWAYS made SURE you knew the terrorists in the IRA were CATHOLICS!
So call them out on their double standard.

The dems have a problem with saying Radical Islam, but have no trouble saying Radical Republicans. After all, Hillary said that her enemies were the republicans.
George “Islam is peace” Bush, as a sitting president, was so idiotically stupid on this issue, as this commercial reminds us, that it is hard to get too indignant about the DNC stupidity here.
Sorry, that group has nothing at all to do with Christianity. You are mistaken and shame on you for saying what you did. Christianity had absolutely nothing to do with their statements or your is seems.
The Jeb! ads I have seen where he’s all hyperactive and shouting for some undefined reason are pretty stupid too.
It would seem if you read what I said you would notice that I said they were not Baptist or Christian, but they SELF IDENTIFY AS CHRISTIAN. They are following their interpretation of the Bible.
If we cannot call them radical Christians, how can we say radical Muslims. They are following the verses in the Koran they choose to follow.
Further, I must admit to being really annoyed to being “shamed” for giving my opinion. What are you Black Lives Matter? We still have free speech and probably not for long, so let me enjoy it without your “shaming”.
It is not only this advertisement, it seems every Liberal Democrat has fanned out all over the place making asses out of themselves. In my entire life I have never seen a political party latch on to position as tone deaf as this. I hope they double down, because I firmly believe it might be a factor in a landslide win for our side in 2016. The more they speak out on behalf of more Muslim immigrants, like more Tsarnaev’s, the more regular folks think they are bats**t nuts. I have even noticed doubt on the faces of their supporters and defenders. Even some left leaning commentators on the cable shows are starting to wonder if this position is a total loser.
I want to know which one of Trump’s supported INFILTRATED the DNC to plant these commercials. That person deserves a (civilian) Medal of Honor.
