”He screwed us,” said Brannon, a coal miner from Wise County, Va., as he sat outside a rally for the United Mine Workers of America. “Man, he screwed us."

With all due respect to coal miners, if they don’t learn about the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers then they are their own worst enemies. This is why the ill-conceived 17th Amendment doesn’t work.

How could anyone in coal country even consider voting for a Democrat?

10 generations of cousin marriage, that's how. He's 6 cans short of a six-pack.

And that is why he is coming to Tucson this Saturday. This is a hotbed of leftist-Chicano pride, but there are no jobs here, much less a union presence, so maybe he will be talking about the wonder of anti-growth policies for the city and county.

Well Shelley, you guys voted for a snake and you got a snake.
What’s the problem? You want us to feel sorry for you?

Job creation is not an end-goal, it’s a side-effect of a healthy economy. The creation of value, not jobs, defines an economy.

Job creation as a function of government is paying one man to dig a hole and another to fill it, and taxing a third for source of funds (while siphoning off the majority). It diminishes value rather than increasing it.

For people like this, the union is the most important thing in their lives. When it comes to politics, they let the union bosses do all the thinking for them.

If the past seven years haven't shaken these mindless sheep awake, nothing ever will.

“He screwed us,” said Brannon”

How did 0bama screw them? Didn't he say many times he was going to bankrupt the coal industry?

There are not many rural areas that are politically liberal; Vermont, Massachusetts & some parts of NH and Maine come to mind. Where else?

...answering my own question, the black areas of the Old Confederacy probably as well. I guess the test should be white, rural, liberal areas. Not much of it in the country.

I’ve heard coal miners suffer from “black lung disease” but they should term this “blank brain disease”

Good point, even eastern AR is less liberal that it formerly was in the days of “their bill”.

Wait until the direct assaults on the tax exemption of their Baptist, Adventist (Catholic, etc.) churches begin. My hope is when this begins to happen in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin & Michigan it will wake these people out of their torpor.

Here you will find the 2012 West Virginia presidential election results.

EVERY county in West Virginia voted for Romney. Even "coal contry". This dude isn't typical of West Virginia rural voters.

Big Media lies.

All the time.

About everything.

Quit believing them.

It won’t waken them up, as many are not contributing to churches any way.
