Ted Cruz will have a chance to win over some of the Republican Party's top donors at a beachside conference later this month.
The Texas senator is the sole presidential candidate confirmed to attend the Club for Growth's economic conference in San Diego on Oct. 15, according to an invitation, giving Cruz a platform to court the deep-pocketed donors part of the Club's network. Cruz has been surprisingly effective at landing top GOP moneymen, collecting more than $50 million for his campaign and super PACs.
The Club, which is one of the most conservative spending groups in elections, is helping raise money for four presidential candidates; Cruz, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and Sens. Rand Paul and Marco Rubio. But no other presidential candidates are confirmed to attend....

He’s got to unite moderates and conservatives to win.
He has a good deal of money so he’ll be negotiating from a position of strength with these guys.

Is there anything to report on the most recent appearances and/or fundraisers? I am always curious to know and see the crowds. They are usually excited and happy and boisterous and I love seeing that.
Like today or tomorrow events.

This is the same outfit that dropped a million against Trump in some nasty bitter ad, for the reason of “just cuz”. Money is not much of an object with them, if they can just find a little cooperation and acquiescence out there on the campaign trail.
I forgot what they wanted to own Trump over and he had given them the drop kick, I presume.
What was it? Do you remember?
Sorry to see that Cruz believes he needs them.

How Cruz speaks to these donors is what is important. Idiots can fling their usual Trumpanzee crap if they wish but Cruz isn't a coward who avoids confrontation.
Ted Cruz has a point: The GOP base and donor base
The people who show up at the polls, who elected you and me, and who elected this Republican majority," Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) said on the Senate floor Monday evening, "far too many of the Republican donors look down on those voters as a bunch of ignorant hicks and rubes."
Blocked from adding an amendment to a government funding bill, Cruz spoke for an hour about the problems within his party until he was eventually refused additional time to press his point.
Ya can't clean out a nest of vipers if you don't have the courage to wade in among them.
Kind of like when Ted Cruz found himself scheduled to speak to an antisemitic "Christian" group. He went anyway and stood on stage like a man and told them the truth. "If you're no friend of Israel, you're no friend of mine, and no friend of America".

Thank you so much, CC. I’ll be on the look out.

Moreover, from Ted Cruz's epic speech last Monday:
The simple reality is a very large percentage of the Republican donors actively despise our base, actively despise the men and women who showed up and voted you and me into office. I can tell you when you sit down and talk with a New York billionaire Republican donor -- and I have talked with quite a few New York billionaire Republican donors, California Republican donors, their questions start out as follows. First of all, you've got to come out for gay marriage, you need to be pro-choice, and you need to support amnesty That's where the Republican donors are. You wonder why Republicans won't fight on any of these issues? Because the people writing the checks agree with the Democrats.

Far too few conservatives recognize courage these days.
There is no courage in refusing to talk to people who disagree with us. Courage can be found in facing those who disagree and convincing them to change their mind.
When Duncan Hunter sr spoke to LULAC when he was running for office, the usual dead ender suspects screeched about his betrayal on immigration. What they ignored was the fact that he held his ground as the toughest border controller of the election. He told them that they must come legally, they must speak english, they must obey the law and we must as a nation have secure borders.
By the same token, Ted Cruz walked into the belly of the beast (The Iowa Agriculture Summit) and told them outright that he did not and would not support ethanol subsidies. The usual reactionary morons declared that going there was pandering but today those very same cowards won't utter a peep about Donal Trump standing on stage in Iowa stating that he strongly supports the renewable fuel standards and ethanol subsidies.
