Rubio is more likely to win a higher level of financial backing. Plus, Marcos temperment and demeanor appear calm and steady compared to the bombastic and unpredictable Trump.
Cruz would work as well, but he has too much in common with Trump to present a strong contrast.

A better debater than the North American champion in both categories who has a debate series at Princeton named after him?
++++
Cruz is the best debater by far. Unfortunately the format being followed isn’t exactly that of a classical debate. WWE is closer to the truth. We know the winner in advance and lots of verbal pushing and shoving.

Bottom line for Cruz: Take WWE Debate lessons. He’s a smart guy, the smartest. I expect him to follow that advice.

You do know that Cruz is leading the field in hard money donations and is #2 in soft money? Rubio isn’t even close. Why would that change all of a sudden?

I’ve never heard anyone say that about Marco R. What makes you see him as a race supremacist? Does he belong to La Raza?

I didn’t say that - I said he is a good debater.

Agreed that these debates have not been very good formats, the sheer numbers alone distort the process considerably.

The world is a very dangerous place and can only become more dangerous by the time the next president (God willing, one of the people under discussion) is elected.

As one looks at this crowded field, the man who inspires the most confidence in these very challenging times is Ted Cruz. I think this will become easier to see (for primary voters) when the field is less crowded and they have more in-depth chances to assess each candidate.

There are several others who might pass this stern test. But I have to wonder, have they done any polling about second choices? because, it would be interesting to see how these candidates are doing as next-best choice.

November 2016 cannot come fast enough, one cannot imagine the mess that would follow another Democrat victory and surely the nation will see this (at least the middle ground swing voters) so getting this right is important.

Establishment Republicans have no souls to search or they wouldn’t have allowed our country and the Republican party to get in the shape it is in.

You’re right, most unfortunately. Whoever recommended that Cruz search out and speak to the appropriate camera oughta be shot. It’s almost as annoying (and cloying) as Obama’s head-swivels. Such a shame because Cruz is the right guy.

“What would Trump get from Rubio that he wouldn’t get from Cruz?”

An oily weasel who puts his own ethnic politics first.

We live in and by the TV camera now so appearance sometimes out weighs substance. The camera wasnt friendly to Cruz.

Also note that Univision hates Rubio....they are constantly running hit pieces on him. Here in Florida Rubio isnt liked by the Tea Party types due to his initial stand with the gang of 8. He also lost a lot of old friends when he started hanging around with Graham and McCain.

He finally wised up and shortly after he backed out of the gang of 8 group they turned on him big time. Even so most conservative voters didnt forgive him.

The Bush crowd, small but effective, have been working against Rubio too. Even the state GOPe and their big money people.

Rubio, probably in ernst, tried to please too many sides and go along to get along......now look at his standings.

I think the push Carly movement is on.

Carley should have held back for the long term. Her chances depended on her lasting long enough where there was no one else to consider and no time to examine her record. Cats out of the bag now, and she's a known disaster.

At 6% there’s no logical reason for the media to spend ink on jebtard! stories anymore. No more so than covering christie or hucky or the rest of the back of the pack losers.
