A Shakespearean decision which may have cost him his life.
A Trump(69)/Cruz(45?) ticket would have more fireworks and more exciting since I was first eligible to vote in 1972.
It would be a great combination of not backing down in face of fierce criticism, International deal making experience, success in accumulating business wealth and oratory skills of Ted Cruz.
How true. I don’t think he had much choice though. LBJ was most likely going to go public with a lot of info about JFK womanizing, he made Clinton look like a choirboy.
I’ve always thought his assassination was a mafia hit, probably with inside info from either CIA They had to know the parade route in advance, mafia hated the Kennedys, Bobby was putting their bosses behind bars.
I have the book here, great read.
Dark Side of Camelot
Seymour M Hersch
ISBN 0-316-35955-6
Loads of footnotes, interviewed everybody he could find, plenty inside info. Only a couple of pages on the assassination, mostly about Kennedy’s private and political life.
I’m familiar with roselli’s visit to joe Kennedy. 92 year old joe bonanno said the mafia did it. Who knows. Lbj had the most to gain
I didn’t know about the Bonanno comment. I’ve always thought LBJ was involved in the JFK assassination.
Joe Kennedy pulled in some old time favors with mafia buddies in Chicago to help JFK get the Illinois vote, according to the book. Kennedy Sr made his money in bootlegging during prohibition. Not a carful at a time though, ships full pulling into New York harbor, and nothing got unloaded without mafia consent. So he was up to his armpits in mafia buddies. He used those connections when his son wanted to get elected.
They also helped him with the coal miners union votes in the WV primary. He beat Humphrey who was the favorite to that point.
Showtime had a 3 hour movie. At the end of the movie, they had an interview with the old man from Arizona. As far as I know he’s the only godfather allowed by the commission to retire. In the interview he told the story as we said. Giancana was mad at the Kennedys. Although Bonanno said one of the shooters was in the sewer opening. I think that location has been debunked.
