I’ll bet that Cruz’s real message was liberty before Hispanics.

There are some hard working Hispanics that do come here and start businesses and I would think they would agree with him.

This is exactly the tact that should be taken - avoid the emotional & divisive racialist arguments the left & guys like Jeb Bush use and appeal to common sense self interests of all Americans regardless of ethnicity.

Reagan did this all the time to very good effect.

I dont think massive legal immigration woos any Hispanics if immigration is an issue.

An individual Hispanic might not want their deadbeat uncle deported or if the Uncle is in the home country, might want their deadbeat uncle to get a visa.

But overall I dont think hispanics care whethere there is high or low legal immigration.

The dems are screaming their agitprop that conservatives don’t want illegals because they’re rascist. Favoring LEGAL immigration is a counter; the problem is the method of entry, not Hispanics themselves.

The average Hispanic citizen may or may not care about immigration. The point being made is that this is about method and not race. It’s maybe inartful, but politics is about soundbites.

I didn’t agree with every method and thing that Pres. Reagan did. I won’t agree with everything Sen Cruz says. At least here, I understand the point. He’s trying to reach out where we have common ground. It’s a good strategy.

It was easy enough to get to for reading. Basically deals with reasons why folks think Romney lost vs. why Cruz thinks he lost - message about self-deportation and 47% comment, etc. Cruz says that immigrants/Latinos are getting slammed by the same rotten economy as the rest of us and those here legally care more about the economy than immigration policies. It also states that Cruz remains constant in opposing pathway to citizenship for those here illegally.
