Koch Brothers Reveal List of 5 Potential GOP Candidates to Support
Mediaite ^ | April 21, 2015 | Matt Wilstein

Posted on 04/21/2015 7:35:43 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

On Monday, The New York Times — and, in turn, Mediaite — reported that billionaire brothers David and Charles Koch had settled on Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) as their preferred Republican candidate to back in the 2016 presidential election. “We will support whoever the candidate is,” David Koch reportedly said at a fundraising event. “But it should be Scott Walker.”

Now, however, in an interview with USA Today, Charles Koch has said that their field of potential endorsees is larger than just one. He confirmed that they are actually looking at five candidates who they believe have “a good chance of getting elected: Walker, Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio.

“Those are the ones we have talked to the most and who seem to be the possible leaders,” Koch said. “What we’ve told them all is that right now, we’re not supporting anyone. We’re telling them that if they want our support, one way to get it is articulating a good message to help Americans get a better understanding and a better appreciation of how certain policies … will benefit them and will benefit all America.”

Koch also confirmed that his organization plans to spend up to $300 million on political campaigns in 2016. During the 2012 election, the Republican National Committee raised and spent $400 million. If the Kochs do decide to back a Republican candidate during the primary, it would be the first time the did so in a presidential election.

“Only if somebody really stands out from the standpoint of their message and what they would actually do to benefit America and has a chance a decent chance of being elected, only then would we select one over the others,” he said, adding, “We may give several of them some money to get this positive message out.”

If every FReeper ponied up $100, we'd have over thirty million dollars to back a candidate. Even at $10 a piece we'd have three million. That's not even counting lurkers. Mike Huckabee got to 2nd place back in 2008 with less money.

What are the odds of getting this group to agree on one candidate ? The idea is a good one, but maybe we wait and see who is still standing in June.

thats what the GOPe is counting on. by then its too late.

there isnt any option here...America has to have a REAL conservative president and ONE conservative candidate has to oppose bush and win the nomination.

the only REAL conservative is Cruz.

do the math.

Hillary is planning to raise $2.5 billion so 3 million is pocket change. That’s not enough to run a 30 second commercial in a major city. Hell, it may not be enough to get a ten minute ride on Hillary’s Scooby van.

Senator Cruz is most conservative on issues except immigration. He is on record for expanding H-1B visa’s five fold. And, he will NOT deport overwhelming majority of illegals. In fairness to the senator, every other candidate giving hints of running will also not deport overwhelming majority of illegals. Republicans are committing slow suicide by keeping illegals and importing 1 Million plus new immigrants every year.

Yup, Cruz is the best man for the job.

He has the brains, the conservative principles and the morality that is required.

Lets win one for the Gipper and get Cruz elected.... RR would approve of Ted Cruz and IMO would have found him to be a kindred spirit.

do you know what this type of visa is ?

its a TEMPORARY work permit and has NOTHING to do with ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION or AMNESTY .

you people are doing nothing but trying to be dishonest and discredit Cruz with pure bullcrap.

he will win anyway.

If we’re gonna get on Scott Walker for his inconsistency on immigration the same needs to be said for Ted Cruz’s silly support for expanding the number of H-1B visas. He should be proposing legislation giving tax breaks and incentives to high tech companies and colleges and universities to train and employ American born tech workers. I’m tired of American companies getting engineers, doctors, and scientists on the cheap from overseas. An engineer from China and a computer scientist from India who are here on worker visas means two less high paying jobs for two Americans. That should anger all of us.

He needs to be called out on that too. We should be employing Americans in our high tech companies and not a steady stream of Indians, Chinese, and Middle Easterners.

H-1B visas are being given to foreign tech workers. It is an issue to expand it. We have plenty of very talented tech workers in the US. Many of them have had to train their H-1B replacements.

the election won’t be decided just on the issue of immigration. Many people don’t care about it, many people don’t understand it, and many people disagree with you.
