Ted Cruz takes 2016 campaign to the air with Easter-weekend TV buys

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign has purchased television advertising time this weekend on local affiliates and national cable networks, his campaign said Thursday, making him the first White House contender to hit the airwaves this cycle.

Cruz (R-Tex.) has reserved time during “Killing Jesus,” a documentary-style adaptation of Bill O’Reilly’s book that will run four times this weekend on Fox News. The program first aired on the National Geographic Channel, where it nabbed 3.7 million viewers.

The campaign has also purchased ads statewide in the early-voting states of Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina during NBC’s “A.D.: The Bible Continues” on Easter Sunday. The Cruz ad will air once during that show.

The ad purchases follow news that Cruz raised $4 million in his first eight days as a candidate, a stong fundraising pace for a newly declared campaign. The haul was driven largely by small-dollar donations, with bundlers accounting for roughly one-third of the money.

No matter who you support in 2016, you have to believe that Ted Cruz's campaign is on a roll and he and his advisors are doing everything right for maximum exposure.

Ted Cruz, although largely ignored or lampooned by the MSM is becoming a Republican candidate that conservatives love to get behind.

I'm on Cruz control, and have donated multiple times, and I love what I've seen to date.

If Cruz falters for any reason, my hope is that it will be Walker that is still in the hunt.

First choice is Ted Cruz.

I don't remember who said this (I think it very well could have been Ted Cruz), but someone said: "If the Christians, who believe in Judeao-Christian values, would have voted in 2012, Obama would have been defeated for a second term." Only 50 percent of them voted in 2012. So, let me propose this......

It might be time for us to do what Black Churches have done forever, and what White Churches did during the "Moral Majority" days of the '80s. Reach out to church folk by every means available. I know that John Hagee, who has a mega-church in San Antonio (including a large Latino membership) and is seen by millions on TV daily, is a humongous supporter of Israel. Make a conscious effort to reach out to White Churchs. George W. did this to an extent but neither McCain, nor Romney, made any effort whatsoever.
