Great. Just what the city needed. We finally got Bill Clinton to leave Harlem and now the Obamas will get a view of Central Park. It’s like the city is becoming the Elba of disgraced Democrats.
If Jimmy Carter gets a place in Park Slope, we’re officially the Democrat dumping ground.
In a Politico Magazine piece, Carol Felsenthal writes that Obama needs to fire Valerie Jarrett in some gentle “move her upstairs” way. Her suggestion is to have her run the Obama library.
So, the library. People in Chicago believe Valerie means to run it, whether it’s in Chicago—probably at the University of Chicago—in New York at Columbia University, one of Obama’s alma maters, or in Hawaii. (I’ve been told, never for attribution, that Valerie favors Columbia because, she has told the Obamas, it will be so much fun for them all to live in New York.) The president could put her in charge, but alas, given her track record of failing upward, that might not help his endangered legacy either.
How much damage can she do? Build a 40 foot golden statue of Obama that talks and put in front of the library?
The real problem is that it’s very doubtful that Jarrett is ready for retirement. Her whole base of influence comes from the Obamas.
The Clintons converged on New York City because they needed a wealthy urban power base to make money and relaunch Hillary’s career. Valerie isn’t moving to Manhattan for the weather, which isn’t that much better than Chicago, but for the networking. Chicago is tapped out.
The question is what comes next. There has been chatter about getting Michelle Obama a senate seat. The idea seems nuts, but so did getting one for Hillary.
The problem with trying for one in New York City is that they both belong to Dems and both belong to Schumer.
Gillibrand could be primaried. Despite her recent rebrand, she’s an idiot careerist picked by Schumer because he could make of her anything he wanted. (Mission accomplished.) But doing so would be ugly. Moving her out would be tricky. She and Schumer like their jobs because there’s plenty of pork. I doubt either of them would trade it for a few years in the cabinet.
Cuomo is the governor. Moving him out would be beyond even Jarrett’s skills. This is a politician who moved out a blind black governor from his own party. If Jarrett wants to fight him, it will be a bloody and ugly fight for the ages.
The Clinton’s carpetbagging (reverse carpetbagging?) worked because they swooped in at exactly the right time. This is exactly the wrong time. There’s no easy chair here for Michelle Obama.
And if Valerie wants to make her senator and then president, it will get ugly fast.
New York doesn’t even like the Obamas for knocking off Hillary. I’m sure there will be lots of photo ops of them hanging out locally, but then what?
The only other thing in New York City is the United Nations. Bill Clinton was at one time rumored to want the job. But the odds of an American getting it these days are extremely low. Still Valerie Jarrett might be crazy enough to think Barack should be the UN Secretary General.
Good luck to her then.
Tackling Schumer, Cuomo or the UN will be sticking her head in a meatgrinder.

Come on New York. Lets have him and his family move to some exotic place like - Detroit. Chrysler advertises Imported from Detroit. Detroit is a hellhole already. Now the Chinese are being up the properties to sell off. Why not have Obummer there. It would work, as many would flee across the border to Canada or run to Chicagoland.

Our Senate's chock-full of stupid already. We need a political equivalent of the kid's table @ Thanksgiving dinner for these retarded senatorial-wannabees.
There is a Senate race in 2016 in Illinois and the seat is currently held by a Republican, so that would be the logical place for Michelle to run...she wouldn’t have to live there except when campaigning for re-election. Or she could buy a house in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and persuade five-term Senator Barbara Mikulski that she really needs to retire. (That seat is also up for re-election in 2016.)
