It should come to no surprise that Jim Messina, one of the mastermind behind President Obama's successful presidential campaigns, is ready for Hillary Clinton in 2016, but he also has a few Republicans he hopes will throw their hats in the ring.
In an interview with Ozy's CEO Carlos Watson, Messina jokes that he's "really rooting hard" for Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin, before pledging his support behind Sens. Rand Paul and Ted Cruz. The full interview will publish on Ozy.com on Wednesday.
As the co-chairman of Priorities USA Action, a super PAC already anticipating Hillary Clinton's run, Messina said a Clinton and Cruz race would be a "wonderful gift" for him.
When asked about Rand Paul's chances of securing the Republican nomination, Messina thought it was a far cry from reality.
"I think if you look at his statements and you look at his record he would be the most right wing candidate that any major party has nominated ... He is that far off the spectrum," he said. "I think his chances of winning swing votes in battleground states are my chances of being the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos."(continued)

Has Kenny Loggins weighed in yet?
Funny he mentioned Paul after Palin and together with Cruz, but they only focus on Paul.
I bet he wanted Reagan in 80 too.......
And it’s all because your Mama don’t dance, and your daddy don’t rock and roll.
They think libertarianism is a winner for the Republicans. I couldn’t disagree more, especially Ron & Ron Junior’s brand of it.
He was in elementary school when then Governor Reagan was gearing up for a run.

uh, I was making a point.....the Jim Messina’s of his day in the Democrat Party all wanted Reagan to run against them.
Jim wasn’t ready in 2014, that’s for sure
Ted Cruz will take this fool to the woodshed.
What’s Axlegrease doing these days...isn’t he the real evil genius of the mob?
Indeed - let them make the mistake of wanting Cruz for us. Let them think, in their little bubble, that people still care about the precious damned government shutdown. They all think that. They’re all idiots.
Bring it on!
And I will be cheering Cruz on as he does it!
What a weasely worded bunch of nonsense. JM = fruit cake
Looks like he has those “Angry Eyes”.
Sounds to me just the opposite. This guy thinks Paul is an “extreme right winger” with no chance, so he wants him to be the nominee. He thinks that about Palin and Cruz too, but I suspect the headline writer thinks Paul has a better chance at the nomination so focuses on him.
Bring it on, Messina, you closet creep.
This time we’re not going to nominate someone who fights with both arms tied behind their back.
He wants to lose?
Rand Paul or Ted Cruz would KICK your AZZ and stuff you into a little hole, Messina!

If his father’s first name was Mike he came from a Republican household and dad was also a campaign advisior for Republicans during the Reagan era.
