Most of those young people have brains.
The blue in that region suggests the borders of a new West-Coastalstan that could liberate the saner counties in CA, OR and WA.
That detailed map isn’t accurate. MA is actually mostly red. The only blue in MA are all the major cities and the western part of the state. That’s how Baker won last night, he won almost every town but he also won a higher percentage of the cities than Republican candidates before him (going back to Weld).

I had just turned 18, and was able to cast my very first vote the year McGovern ran against Nixon. Naturally, folks in our age group hated Nixon with a passion, and our young skulls were too full of mush to know better.
Took me a while, but I eventually escaped the Dems mind control plantation. Yep - there's hope alright.

Other interesting demographic breakdowns would be debt-savings, net taxes paid, number of sexual partners, religious-secular commitments, rural-urban, music habits, news source, tattoos piercings, and education and type (a BS in engineering is not in the same universe as a BA in woman's studies, psychology or urban folk dance).
What will happen when all us old White men die off?

Debbie Dingell won John’s district by some 60% over republican Terry Bowman which wasn’t exactly unexpected but its interesting that a conservative UAW Ford worker actually challenged and took around 30% of the vote.
It was kind of funny watching the Fisher body heiress attacking the factory worker as being for the rich.
Bowman is the real deal too. He was a mover and shaker who played a big role in bringing RTW to Michigan. He’s still UAW and has no intent of leaving but says the unions need competition to become better themselves.
He testified against union political fundraising on Capitol hill a couple years back.

Not to worry.
If you look at the trend of age versus voting you see that the older people get the more likely they are to be conservative.
No big surprise there - just cements the theory that when you take a liberal kid of today, get them married, with kids and a job, wham o - you have a conservative.
Outliers abound, of course, but I think we'll be backfilled nicely.
