Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. fired back at Texas Senator Ted Cruz for remarks he made over the weekend about his borough.

During a speech in Dallas Saturday, Cruz said he was tired of northern senators like Charles Schumer lecturing him on border security.

He then added, "I understand that Manhattan is very concerned with their security with the Bronx, but it's a little bit different on 2,000 miles of the Rio Grande."

Diaz Jr. responded, "This is unbecoming of him as a U.S. Senator, you know, who wants to be President of the United States—which, last I checked, also has the Bronx included in that. And so shame on him. It's just amazing of him. He's an intellectual. I would like to think it's some type of humor. People like to blame it on ignorance but I think that what this guy did was disgusting."

Diaz Jr. previously released a statement saying the the Bronx has seen unprecedented growth in recent years and called Cruz's comments revolting.

I didn’t hear this clown condemn all the horrid things Holder, Obama, and Shumer has said.

If all it takes is “it’s a little bit different 2000 miles away” to set this little wet panty shmuck I’d hate to see him in a “Yo Mamma So Fat” joke off.

“disgusting” “revolting”
Someone call the National Enquirer: it’s a thin-skinned New Yorker! From the Bronx no less.

But I bet that Diaz would be laughing his ass off if Schumer made a crack about how much better New Yorkers are than Texas rednecks.

Cruz represents a border state so he can say what he wants with authority about border security.

They’re going to hammer him, they don’t care about the country or what Cruz could do. It’s keeping control of power.

Oh, well. I guess this means Cruz won’t win New York.

I write this from the back of a car moving west and crossing the GW Bridge. I look and see a city to my left that would never again elect Rudy Giuliani — the man who saved the place — let alone Ted Cruz. That city is gone forever.
