Local County Republican Party Annual Fundraiser Problem
2/18/14 | Good Tomato

Posted on 02/18/2014 6:07:52 PM PST by goodtomato

Every year my local County Republican Committee does a "Lincoln Day Dinner" as a fundraiser to replenish our coffers. Monies used to maintain our headquarters, (which is rent free)maintain a web site, phone, printed material, etc... The problem we are experiencing is with the "Republican" base anger. In our county, republicans hold every elected office except the Sheriff. Romney won our county. We are delivering the vote, but people are so angry at the national party and I am understanding with their dissatisfaction, which I agree with.

I believe we need to grow our elected officials', take them for a test drive, and if they follow the ideals, promote them.

How do we deal with the national backlash to the GOP-E, which we believe is warranted. Many of our members are also Tea Party active, but when we lose a local battle they seem to turn an issue to blame.

How do we define an issue, and motivate our base to work for that goal? Nothing like getting bitched at by your members when your trying to promote conservative values.

I'm looking for constructive response, not the same old slam the republican party. Some of us are working to restore!

Have you rounded people up to get them out to change your RNC committeemen?

You might consider lying to your local base, like the national GOP lies
to your local base. It seems to work for them. Maybe it will work for your
local GOP critters. SAC

If that does not work, reach out to local Tea Partiers and offer to share
decision power with them.

First, dump all the support for GOPe.....from national to local.

Second, set a local conservative platform that includes less government, no Amnesty, less public spending, less federal involvment, repeal of ObamaCare

Show conservative leadership...and conservatives return

1. Stop having Lincoln day dinners and start having Reagan day dinners.

2. As long as they continue to work within the RPT work with local TEA party leaders to the maximum extent possible.

3. Remain completely neutral in all primary races except, of course, a challenge to your own office.

That would be a good start!

RNC committeeman Dave Agema says the platform is little more than voter bait that the party has no intent to follow. (Oh yeah, they hate him)

The RNC sent me a letter today to rejoin and I sent them a letter saying they don’t represent my values anymore. End of letter. I’m going to donate to individuals from now on instead of any bloated backstabbing party.

Regan Day Dinner, now that is an excellent idea!

Calvin Coolidge is an even better example than Reagan of what a republican should be. He was after all, Reagan’s favorite.

That is a recognizable problem. We have initiated a precinct recruitment drive. We are a rural area and have identified that we need to reach out electronically, hence our fundraising. We have over 27,000 registered Rep. in a county of 45,000 registered voters.

Yes CC, that may be our problem with the backlash of local support. We understood this and are working to build a new base.

I’m talking about getting people to understand the need to change the RNC at the national level. Aside from a couple of examples, they’re the most liberal people in the party and they make policy.

It only look some 1500 people to go to the Michigan state convention and change our RNC representation to a more conservative brand. Unfortunately its a hammer I’ve been swinging for a long while here at FR and it falls on seemingly deaf ears. People seem only to care about the public faces that go to Washington.

The tea party (which I support) join, then quit, then join again. We all are in the car but we are not steering it. Believe it or not but elected officials change their stance once elected! It’s understandable that one might not get their wish 100% of the time, but to take your bat and go home does not win the war.

We have been relentless on the less govt’ platform. Amnesty, we lost on the inclusion of E-verify because the opposed sided with the feds (no enforcement). It’s a tough row to hoe, but we have concerned citizens’, each and every county meeting taking these ideals to task with the commissioners.

“1. Stop having Lincoln day dinners and start having Reagan day dinners.”

I mentioned Reagan Day dinner to the Republicans here. They wouldn’t even consider a Reagan Day Dinner, even though there were some adamantly against having a Lincoln dinner.

That’s when I first realized I was wasting my time with the local Republicans.

There has been a cleansing of the RPOFlorida. Our rep to the national party is our LDD speaker. His Bio includes two books about the threat of Islam. Peter Feaman is his name.

I will tell you that I will never again volunteer to “work” for any political group, whose sole purpose is to raise more money, as opposed to gathering more like minded votes.

All the pointless fake “polling calls” that annoyed the people who did answer the phone, was stupid and counterproductive.

Republicans support candidates, not “party members”.
As for all the paid party “bureaucrats”...try real hard not to act like Democrats.
Need money? Tell people exactly what you need the money for, and don't lie about it.

Brother, don’t despair, your hammer resonates 1200 miles away. I noticed and I agree. Baby steps we take!
