The dems start out with a rock-solid, unassailable guarantee of 250+
EVs before the first vote is tallied, and that’s taking away the blue-trending states of Virginia, Ohio and Florida, and the electoral balance in
2012 was D+6. There’s always a chance Hillary goes room temp or is exposed as a hatchet murderess late in the campaign, though...

My comment is - the GOP needs to listen to Rand Paul. They need to stop trying to out-wonk the Democrats, who have wet dreams figuring out the best way for government to run your life. Instead they need to start talking about Big Ideas, ideas like personal liberty and the opportunity to create better lives for people and their kids and grandkids.

Immigrants don’t come here because we have better free stuff, they come because there is the opportunity to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. The GOP needs to stop trying to out-pander the professional panderers and tell the story of conservatism, libertarianism, and free enterprise.

You don’t like me including libertarianism in that list? Fine, enjoy President Hillary.

The GOP has no business squandering their financial stake is trying to win races that at this point in time, are essentially still under lock by the “community organizer” mentality. This is just trying to use bait-and-switch in the political dialogue, getting the Republicans off the true strengths they possess, which is the Conservative principles that are much spoken of, but so rarely practiced.

That may have been true once, not any more. I remember reading back in the 90s that South Korean newspapers ran stories about how elderly people with relatives in the US could get visas and go on SSI as soon as they get here. Or check out Somalis in Maine. And of course Hispanics are the largest group, and legal Hispanics in CA are twice as likely as non-Hispanics to be on government assistance.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

The Rust Belt will be the least of the problems — currently the old 2 and 2 split of the four largest states — NY (Blue) CA (Blue) FL (Red) and TX (Red) is going to go out the window in coming years, no matter what is done (or fails to be done) about illegal immigration.

If states assigned Electoral College votes based on the *national* numbers (there was talk about that, did they go through with that?) the Pubbie minority in heavily Blue states would turn out, knowing they’d have more impact on the POTUS.

Overall it’s way past time to dump the Electoral College on its ass; in the same amendment we need term limits on the House and Senate, with no grandfather/mother clause.

The Rust Belt wants jobs. The GOP wants to export jobs. The GOP will do a few head fakes on immigration and Obamacare, or perhaps gin up a war or two to distract. Campaign contributions talk, politicians listen. Main Street is screwed. Looking for work is the new normal. Raises, forget about them.

Try Populist conservatism of Jeff Session http://dailycaller.com/2013/11/25/sen-sessions-slams-obama-ceos-on-immigration/#ixzz2sK4P9p9D
This speaks to the rust belt and to the working class disenfranchised by corporatist rule and subsidized displacement through immigration and affirmative action.

No question many of them work very hard, but don't kid yourself. The free stuff is absolutely THE big incentive to come here, esp. for certain groups. The Dems wouldn't enjoy the kind of immigrant support they do otherwise.

How about the GOP targets its own base of 6 million who sat home and didn’t vote in 2012?

Rand Slams Congress for Funding Egypt's Generals: 'How Does Your Conscience Feel Now?'
Sen. Rand Paul is hammering his fellow senators for keeping billions in financial aid flowing to Egypt's military -- even as Cairo's security forces massacre anti-government activists. [by "anti-government activists" is meant church-burning Christian-murdering jihadists]

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

What is so difficult is that Florida and Ohio are two states with a lot of reported vote fraud despite having R Gov and SoS.
