Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) said today that the Senate immigration bill is even worse than feared, since it legalizes illegals' relatives and even those previously deported:
"It's hard to believe, but the Senate immigration bill is worse than we thought. Despite assurances, the border is not secured before almost everyone in the country illegally is given amnesty. The bill guarantees there will be a rush across the border to take advantage of massive amnesty."
Rep. Smith says the Senate immigration bill shreds current immigration laws:
"And the Senate proposal offers amnesty to far more illegal immigrants than we thought. In addition to most of the 11 million illegal immigrants already in the country, the bill offers to legalize the relatives of illegal immigrants outside the U.S. and even others who have already been deported back home. So current immigration laws are shredded....

That “11.1 million” just took a huge leap up to 30 or 40 million. There goes our ObamaCare!

Good. By over-reaching this badly they have (hopefully) ensured its defeat.

That 11 million number was never real in the first place. More like 30 million, which just doubled or tripled. Which is about the number of people in all of Japan!

Good. By over-reaching this badly they have (hopefully) ensured its defeat. I learned my lesson on "it's so bad it can't possibly be passed" with Obamacare.

Yeah! For the last ten years the state controlled “media” has been trumpeting that the 20 to 30 million “illegal aliens” living here would make whitey a minority by 2025. I think it will happen quicker if they pass this FREEway to Amnesty Bill.

I learned my lesson on "it's so bad it can't possibly be passed" with Obamacare. The Dem majority in Congress lied through their rotten teeth the whole way through the Obamacare fiasco. They also didn't let anyone know what was in the bill until after Bozo signed it.
Heck, we're still finding hidden 'gems' in that monstrosity.
Little different on this amnesty bill. They can't stop the leaks, and I think it'll die because of them. Thank God.

I HOPE this bill will die.
Now that the dems have framed it as all about the children not being "allowed" to be with deported parents, I say: Elian Gonzalez.
When Elian wanted his son to come home to Cuba, Clinton moved heaven and earth and the ATF to ensure that he went home.
I think we can use the same excuse.
Well, we don't want families broken up, do we?
Better send the anchor children back to Mexico so everything is copacetic, right?
Just following liberal logic here folks.

If this bill passes we will no longer need to secure the border. Anyone wishing to come here will just get the proper documents from the democrats stating that they are the relative of someone and merely drive through the gate.

If you're going to believe any politician on Immigration believe Lama Smith. He's the real deal on Immigration enforcement.
He wrote the last real Immigration enforcement law (IIRIRA) which was passed by Congress and with the strength of the Gingrich veto-proof majority Clinton compelled to signed into law in 1996. By the late 90s others in Congress, the executive branch and the courts began undermining it. The problem they had with that law was it was working... it was turning the screws on illegals and criminal aliens.
