Byron York: How will conservatives greet Mitt Romney's reappearance?
The Washington Examiner ^ | February 28, 2013 | Byron York

Mitt Romney is coming back into public view.

This weekend the former Republican presidential candidate will appear on "Fox News Sunday," his first interview since losing to Barack Obama nearly four months ago. And on March 15, Romney will speak to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, the same event at which he declared himself a "severely conservative Republican governor" during a 2012 speech.

Romney's re-emergence is likely to be met by a mixed response from Republicans. Yes, many respect him as a decent man who has done a lot of good things in his life. But just as many are still angry at him for losing. They view 2012 as a winnable race, had Romney run a sharper, more creative, more aggressive campaign....

--snip--

After the 2008 race, a number of John McCain's senior aides spent months attacking each other, trashing vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, and in general showing by example why they ran such a disorganized and ineffective campaign.

Within hours of McCain's defeat, top aides were dumping on Palin, accusing her of being a rogue candidate, of blowing $150,000 in campaign money on a new wardrobe, and of being woefully unprepared for even the most basic duties of a running mate. Palin was a "diva" and a "whack job." And when Palin loyalists came to her defense, they found themselves under attack, too....

I held my nose and voted for him in 2012. I won’t do it again.

Really?

CPAC now has more lunatics running around than a Star Wars convention, and more perverts than the AVN awards.

Romney ran as a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual candidate, actually running pro-choice ads in some states, and rejecting the party’s pro-life platform.

He better be shunned and shamed, or he will continue his lifelong goal of driving conservatism from America and of seeking family revenge against Christian/conservative America.

Why bother?

Could a guy who couldn't win 2012 be elected Animal Control Officer? [Sorry, Seamus]

I made an F-ing fool of myself on this very forum defending this guy. How does Mitt pay back this loyalty? By refusing to even bring up Benghazi during the last debate!

NO MORE F-ING RINOS!

Do us a favor...just go away Mitt...and take Porky Pig Rove with you!

Beats me. I was sure she would and disappointed when she didn't.

Going in, I was for Cain, despite his long-shot qualities (but when it comes to Democrats, I like to aim below the belt). The fact that the highest political office he had held was Chairman of the KC Fed was a plus for me.

“How will conservatives greet Mitt Romney’s reappearance?”

Hopefully with ridicule and revulsion. We lost because we nominated a liar and Obozo-Lite like him. We have only ourselves to blame.

I say Romneys are Nobodys to me. They were worthless candidates and I knew it when they ran. I HOPED that they could beat the bammer but I don’t give them much credit for trying.
Benghazi# lost it for Romney no doubt in my mind.

I agree with Byron York. Romney was a decent and honorable candidate who has taken himself out of the limelight with dignity.

That IMO is the single largest unanswered question of 2012.

Why not?

I’ll go ahead and ask it again. Why didn’t Palin run?

And what is she doing now? Is she preparing a run, or not?

Stop stalling Palin. This is getting series.

Perfect.

Romney ran all he had. It was strong, but it was not enough. But it was everything Romney could bring to the fignt.

Agreed 100%. I was a supporter after Palin dropped out.

But once is plenty enough. We saw Romney is unelectable as president.

Go away Mittens

Far far away

You are a milquetoast with spectacularly bad taste in advisors, Mr Rogers in magic underwear, walking proof that the presidency can't be bought by a man who has no fire in his belly to show for it

and yes- people think you are free to practice your religion but it is weird ... they voted for a marxist muslim loser over you

So go away and spend your money on philanthropy, not someone elses ambition that you be POTUS. and bTW, make sure the tribe shuns doing business with that pusillanimous Uriah Heep known as Harry Reid, and all his spawn too
