Empowered by an election result that will enable Chris Matthews to hear racist dog whistles anytime, anywhere, the fevered MSNBC Hardball host began a segment today to showcase just how racist the Republican Party is, especially white Southerners. He had all the stats of who voted by race, where. Missing from that, of course, was the stats of blacks voting almost 100% for Obama in key precincts in Pennsylvania. But I digress.
Matthews finishing his racial thesis, then begins this line of inquiry to his two guests Republican strategist John Feehery and Democrat strategist, Joy Reid:
Matthews: Let me just go to something in the rhetoric, and you can read it both in your own ways. Romney kept saying, weve got a little montage, Im going to take back America. Were going to take back America. Take back America. You know, I have to live with the fact that the Dallas Cowboys are Americas team. I guess they gave themselves the name. I dont know how they got it. But they do. But how did he get to be the American candidate? Thats what I want to know. Who named him that?
John Feehery: Well, thats a frequent thing in politics. People always
Matthews: I never heard Obama say take back America.
Feehery: Well, you know, this is not that unfamiliar. The idea that were going to take back the White House, were going to restore America, were going to renew America, hope and change, whatever you want to call it, the team thats out of power wants to take back power. And thats, I dont think thats racially motivated. I think its ridiculous to think it is.
Joy Reid: No, but you know what, John? Look at the Tea Partys rhetoric, because thats where this whole take back America stuff started. These were people that were looking at the colonial period as the idyllic period in American history, the period before you had unions, before you had racial integration, this sort of America in which African-Americans were 3/5th of a person. That was the era that the Tea Party saw as the idyllic period in American history. And I think to your point about 2010, lets not compare apples to oranges. What happens in midterms is that minority voters and younger voters stay home. So sure, you can win a Pennsylvania or an Ohio or a Michigan in an off-year election when basically, white voters are the ones coming to the polls. When you add the ethnic dimension, and you add younger voters, all of a sudden it becomes a lot harder for Republicans.
So now if you say you want to take back America, regardless of whether its on policy or not, youre racist. But Matthews wasnt through. A moment later, all you 10th Amendment people, youre now racist, too.
Matthews: Anyway, you talk about the 10th Amendment in the South. Why is the 10th Amendment, which reserves powers to the states from the federal government, so much at issue with Republicans? Why do they love that 10th Amendment so much? It sounds like the Civil war to me.
Exit question: How long before someone on MSNBC proclaims the 22nd Amendment as being racist, because it prevents the first black president from being able to be president for life? After all, the 22nd Amendment was ratified in 1951, and you know how racist that period of time was, dont you? I mean, that was pre-civil rights era.
Seems to me alot of people, liberals and Republicans are really starting to take down the tea party for some reason. Are they afraid the Tea Party will come roaring back and are trying to get ahead of it and are scared to death of it. I don’t get it. We didn’t have a Tea candidate and we lost so what’s the beef?
I don’t care anymore, if believing if freedom, working hard, keeping your stuff you’ve earned and to be left alone is racist, then I am a racist. I’m tired of playing PC ball with these twerps.
I’m with you. If that makes me racist in some clown’s eyes fine. At least I’m in good company.
No, voting for 0bama because he wasn’t the white guy makes you racist.
Back then liberals and Rockefeller Republicans all agreed that the people in the emerging modern conservative movement were racists, "purveyors of hate" and were the cause of all the violence in America. In fact the "climate of hate and violence" inspired Lee Harvey Oswald to assassinate JFK, screamed the liberals. Poor things
.. it's the same old tune. A generation has passed and still they got nothing.
I don’t care if I’m racist, Chris.
I did another cursory search and I did find this "Robert Bork, [has] explicitly written off the Tenth Amendment and the doctrine of enumerated powers, initially the pride and glory of the Constitution's defenders, as dead letters . . . ."
Like anyone gives a crap anymore if they’re called a “racist.” ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz. If you breath and aren’t registered with the Demo-marxist party, you’re obviously a “racist.” This POS actually thinks spewing this same ole BS will have any effect? Racist, racist, racist, racist, ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz.
There are worse things in the world than racism but try telling that to a liberal racist.
We need a Civil War in this country to stem the tide of communism and illegal invasion, before it is too late.
Really, our side would experience so much inner peace if we would just ignore everything Spittle Boy says.
The term racism has lost all meaning. What he is really saying is tribalism.
Lets not skip a step. Lets try secession and if they want a war we will give it to them.
Sounds good to me.
