If the GOPe Were Smart They Would Beg Gov. Palin to Come Back Into the Room
A Time For Choosing ^ | November 17, 2012 | Stacy Drake

But this is the “stupid party” we’re talking about, so I won’t hold my breath.

In the wake of the disastrous 2012 election results, there has been a lot of discussion on the right regarding the GOP’s apparent “message” problem. Much of the conversations has focused on immigration issues as a way to bring in new voters. Recently, Charles Krauthammer wrote:

’ve always been of the “enforcement first” school, with the subsequent promise of legalization. I still think it’s the better policy. But many Hispanics fear that there will be nothing beyond enforcement. So, promise amnesty right up front. Secure the border with guaranteed legalization to follow on the day the four border-state governors affirm that illegal immigration has slowed to a trickle.

Imagine Marco Rubio advancing such a policy on the road to 2016. It would transform the landscape. He’d win the Hispanic vote. Yes, win it. A problem fixable with a single policy initiative is not structural. It is solvable.

It’s going to take much more than that to solve the current issues the GOP has with voters. You can’t pander to one racial demographic and think that will solve all of your problems. The predicament that they find themselves in goes much deeper than a single issue, and it’s based primarily on trust. According to an election night survey released by Breitbart News, Judicial Watch, and Public Opinion Strategies:

Voters’ responses suggest that the American public agrees with conservative policies–but does not trust the Republican Party to implement them....

Sarah Palin has been one of the most inspirational players on the conservative stage for several years now. That's why the media attacks her so.

She went commercial to recover financially from the pain her family suffered after all the Soros/Obama contrived lawsuits and that clouded her otherwise positive image.

The destruction of Sarah Palin was done not just by the Dems and their media allies. It was aided and abetted by Romney aides and the GOPe.

Absent a near miracle, the destruction is irreversible. I don’t think she could win a national election.

However, if she goes completely rogue and starts a third party, count me in. She may be the only national figure that could rally actual conservatives to the new party.

A viable 3rd party would most likely mean the GOPe AND the new party gets slaughtered in the first national election. So what? How would that be any different?

If the new party stayed the course it would eventually destroy the GOPe. That would be a very GOOD thing, and worth the price paid.

If the GOP were smart, every candidate should just change his name to Cruz or Diego or Santiago. The degree of mindless ethnic voting for the same ethnic group is sickening. I should know having lived in Hawaii a whole lot of years.

The democrats almost always win, but they are smart. They give each ethnic group a chance to run for governor.

For being just angry and racist white guys, we are the only ones who vote for candidates regardless of race.

And I’m really not joking about the Mexican surnames. Change your name. Drop the ‘R’ from campaign posters. Electability problem solved. But then the democrats will start running their candidates with hyphenated Spanish surnames.

Conservatives are fooling themselves about Palin.

As much as I like her, outside of social conservative circles, she is universally considered an idiot. No amount of arguing will change that unfortunate fact, either.

Then you're basically saying no conservative will ever again be elected to a national office.

Because the MSM will demonize and vilify ANY movement conservative that tries to enter the political arena. Even ivy league educated, "moderate" Mitt Romney was portrayed (effectively) as an out-of-touch simpleton who's only success was predicated on being born rich....even though he donated his inheritance to charity and became a millionaire based on his own accomplishments.

Unless conservatives are willing to stand up to public ridicule, we will be doomed to a lesser-of-two-evils choice for President from now on.

What part of Sarah Palin is damaged goods do not some people get...?

There is no possible way she can make a positive contribution to the GOP as an political entity...Sorry, that's just the facts..

Sure conservatives love her (I count myself among them) but vast portions of the American public being the clueless, dumbed down sheep that they are: think of her as the caricature the liberal media made of her...

She is forever linked with that POS McCain...as being part of the GOP establishment...

Yes, she can make contributions to rally the base, but as a public figure...she is toast

At least she acts like an American and talks like a Patriot. I am about fed up with Chicago thugs and offshore politicians selling our country down the river.

I hope that you don't think that the present occupant of the White House is very smart? If he didn't have his board of directors he would be lost.

“Palin Cult of Personalty”

I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you for Hillary or Romney or Mc Cain? At least Sarah has a personality.

Why is it that Sarah Palin is always waiting for someone to invite her to do something?

Because she's smarter than those who ask such questions. Look at what happened to the "approved" slate of candidates with the help of the RNC. Even then, when Romney became the last one standing, he was demonized by the conservatives to the point hat voter apathy on our side gave Obozo another term. She knows that, without an invite, she has to fight both sides. Without a groundswell clarion call, she's fighting a losing battle and further damaging the conservative cause. Only an idiot would take his/her family through such smears as would occur for no good reason.

I've seen nothing that indicates that Palin "wants to be drafted". If she had wanted to run for the Presidency, it was hers for the taking...SHE decided to not run, no one else.

I don't think she wants to be in the GOP room, as it's turned into the GOPe good ol' boys club. McCain, a RINO, invited her in and she was summarily attacted by the GOPe, including McCain.

Do YOU go busting into placed where you're not welcomed? The GOP has turned from the Grand Old Party, to Gushing Over Progressivism...no Conservatives allowed.

The GOPe is a different party from the one Sarah Palin belongs to. Advocating her ascendency would end theirs.

She has to do it herself. They are vulnerable. It could be done. But not with their help.

But many Hispanics fear that there will be nothing beyond enforcement. So, promise amnesty right up front

Well as it turns out, Republicans did go for amnesty once, under President Reagan and allowed citizenship to millions, few questions asked. In return the border was to have been secured and such severe penalties for hiring illegals- it was all supposed to solve this issue once and for all.

Before the dust settled on that mess, the dims refused to enforce the border or the serious penalties for hiring illegals. Enforcement has been a joke for years. That is what brought us to where we are today...funny they don't trust us to do enforcement first, I don't trust them to do amnesty first.

I’ve always been of the “enforcement first” school, with the subsequent promise of legalization. I still think it’s the better policy. But many Hispanics fear that there will be nothing beyond enforcement.

Instead what they want is "amnesty first" with the subsequent promise of enforcement. Conservatives *know* that there will be nothing beyond amnesty. How do we know this? That is *EXACTLY* what happened the last time. And these oh-so smart self-anointed, self appointed pinheaded 'elites' (like Krauthammer) believe we are so stupid as to fall for *that* again?
