Noonan: "Tea Party Style Of Rage Is Not One That Wins Over Converts"
RCP Video ^ | 11-11-2012

Posted on 11/11/2012 3:31:31 PM PST by Sir Napsalot

(snip) “It can move forward things in a good way. I think the tea party is going to have to look at itself,” Noonan added. “It’s been so helpful to the Republican Party in the past. It saved it by not going third party in 2010, helping the Republicans sweep the House. But the tea party style of rage is not one that wins over converts and makes people lean towards them and say, ‘I want to listen to you.’ I think a friendly persuasion has to begin now from the Republican Party to people of the United States.”

You are correct...it is working. Sadly. OWS=great grassroots movement by peaceful activists. TEA Party=bunch of fringe right wing kooks who want to rule by anarchy or theocracy.

I have been active in the TEA Party since the beginning. None of the rallies or meetings I have attended have been “rageful”. In the beginning, at least in my area, there was a broad coalition that spanned BOTH parties and independents.

The demonization by the libs and msm (I’ll throw the GOPe in with that group as well)is a result of fear. It scares the beejeebers out of them that a group of like minded Americans with no real leader to unite them has made a difference. For the most part we operate independently from one another. Scary stuff that there is a core in this country that “gets it”.

Sorry Ms. Noonan. I was about to forgive you. But no longer. You speak crazy talk.

How do you gently persuade People to forgo their food stamps and then gently nudge them toward employment. The layabouts of this country do not need the grandmotherly approach to mend their ways. They need Lee Ermey staring them in the face when the wake up around noon.

AS for Tea Party identified candidates. My observation is that their ideas are fine, its the presentation that is lacking. Our candidates should be sought and selected that can convey the ideas in a coherent and articulate manor, with intelligence. Too many of these candidates have been supported strictly on their support for our issues. That does us no good if they cannot present themselves as sharp and intelligent people. The Christine O’Donnells reflect badly on us, they are representing our ideas. An example of a great Tea Party candidate is Ted Cruz. He is someone who shares our views but would not be out of place on a panel with Bill Buckley and Richard Brookhiser discussing James Madison. His type of candidate should be our standard. I would put Rand Paul in that category. Again, the ideas are fine, but we should do a better job articulating them with intelligence.

Too white, too old, too boring GOPe doesn’t seem to quite get that her soft wipers are scoffed at by the left. They laugh at her. The only thing they understand is rage, rap and ridiculousness.

Rage?? Peggy. I would call it passion. Negative rage, that’s Obama. And no, we are not going to do it your get-along way, actually. You and your softy-kissy up get-along, give up the Constitution and ‘can’t we all just get along?”

You go on back to Obama where you belong. And you can keep your advice. We the People don’t need it. We have the Constitution.

Noonan re-emerging after Romney’s loss. Figured the RINOs will come out of the woodwork when the narrative is the conservatives / Tea Party are scaring away voters. What they don’t get is that the RINOs are what dilutes the conservative message and THEY need to go away! Get lost Noonan, you’re pretty irrelevant these days.

all the rage is coming from the left...

I see nothing but smarmy ranting drooling psychos on their side.

that’s fine Peggy. We are done with you. move along.

what I see our side is righteous anger which is necessary when you are losing or have already lost, your country to a bunch of communists and freeloaders.

I think that Ms. Noonan has misdiagnosed the real problem. The Tea Party is not the problem per se. The problem is that public schools have not been teaching the Constitution and its history for many generations. Consequently, probably most people, including probably Ms. Noonan and many Tea Party patriots, don't know the main reason that the Founding States drafted the Constitution. The main reason was to divide federal and state government powers, the states reserving uniqely to themselves the lion's share of government power to serve the people as evidenced by Section 8 of Article I, Article V, and the 10th Amendment.

In fact, arguably the only peacetime domestic government service that people would need to contact their federal lawmakers to resolve problems with is postal services as evidenced by Clause 7 of Section 8 of Article I of the Constitution.

But more importantly where federal taxes are concerned, Justice John Marshall had officially clarified that Congress is prohibited from laying taxes in the name of state power issues, issues which Congress cannot justify under Section 8 of Article I.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." --Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
Given Marshall's official clarification about Congress's limited power to lay taxes, Congress cannot justify under Section 8 most of the federal government services that we now pay taxes for; SS, Medicare, etc. In other words, the 50% of people who do pay net federal taxes are wrongly being forced to pay illegal federal taxes for constitutionally indefensible federal government services.

The Axelrod/Obama Chicago take no prisoners way worked fine for the Democrats.

It was Romney's turning the other cheek to very outrageous personal accusation, that did him in.

I think that senility is completing it gradual takeover of Noonan’s brain. The only political rage that I’ve seen are the various Days of Rage that the left has engaged in. Miss Noonan, the poor dear, is very confused. She needs to get out in the real world among real people more. But, unfortunately, Ms Noonan may be too far gone to have any hope of recovery—she’s spent entirely too much time among the pompous set (of which she has clearly become a card carrying member).
