GretaWire Readers [By a Huge Margin] See Sarah Palin as the Leader of the GOP Post Election
A Time For Choosing ^ | November 8, 2012 | Gary P. Jackson

Posted on 11/09/2012 11:33:19 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

On Wednesday, Greta put up a poll asking her readers who they thought, at this moment, was the leader of the Republican Party. Readers responded by choosing Sarah Palin by an overwhelming margin over the rest of the field.

Reading the comments it’s pretty plain that many feel Sarah could have fared far better against President Obama than Governor Mitt Romney did. Judging how well Sarah’s hand picked candidates for office did, vs how those in the standard GOP mold under-performed, it’s not much of a stretch to think Sarah herself would have done well and likely led the party to victory.

It’s also clear, reading those comments, that Greta’s readers would like to see Sarah Palin run for President in 2016. It’s way too early to speculate what Sarah will do, and it’s probably best not to speculate until she, herself says something, but I’m one of those who is 100% on board with the idea of a her running.

We need strong leadership from a GOP candidate, and for the last two elections, we’ve had no leadership at all. Timidity cannot defeat evil, and we are staring evil right in the face. We need a warrior at the helm.

Here are the results of the poll as of this afternoon:

Governor Sarah Palin 37.76% (2,137 votes)

Senator Marco Rubio 17.62% (997 votes)

Speaker Boehner 13.91% (787 votes)

Congressman Paul Ryan 8.54% (483 votes)

Governor Romney 8.41% (476 votes)

Someone else 6.94% (393 votes)

Governor Chris Christie 3.64% (206 votes)

Speaker Newt Gingrich 3.18% (180 votes)

I’d be curious to learn why Speaker of the House John Boehner rates so high. Maybe some readers took the question literally, as Boehner is the highest ranking Republican in office. It’s just that seeing Boehner and “leader” mentioned together somehow seems wrong to me.

Readers would rather see someone, anyone besides Chris Christie or Newt Gingrich leading the party. I agree.

The poll isn’t scientific in any way, but Greta’s blog is popular with a wide range of people from all points of view, and likely represents the feelings of many, if not most of the GOP faithful.

She had her chance, she demurred.

But not until after she had run a long drawn out, will-I-or-won't-I, tease campaign. Palin did a lot of damage to conservatives by pulling that stunt. Her actions delayed, for many months, conservatives from trying to unite behind one of the candidates. Too many of the grassroots were waiting for her to announce and used that time to tear down any potential opposition to her. Not saying that Perry would have won the nomination, but the Palin forces worked tirelessly to tear him apart because many thought he was her chief competitor.

Anyway, it's done and doesn't matter now. Palin is a TV commentator and ocassional realityTV personality. She does a good job on Fox, gets paid a bundle, and I expect her to continue in that line of work. Her days as a politician are likely long behind he now.

Scott Walker or Col West. They both have a spine.

You may not know, but the Speaker of the House does, not have to be a member of the House.

If West were the Speaker, the dems couldn’t pull the race card at every turn. And he wouldn’t cry or write letters. He’d speak up. I pray that that happens. He might even get some of Holders people to listen to him, which is exactly what the Republicans need.

I still like her a lot, but when it came time this election cycle to buck up or stay in the truck, she stayed in the truck. I don’t think she wants to be a politician anymore. Doubt we’ll see her run for anything again, ever.

Personal opinion, based on what anonymous Romney staffers did right before 2008 eleciton, the GOPe Country Club good ole boys essentially told Sarah that Willard was the next in line (”It’s his turn” a la Dole, McLame, Bush 41), the fundraisers were behind him and don’t even think about running in 2012. They’re petrified of anything resembling a real conservative, especially a woman. Note how none of these “gentlemen” came out to defend her when she was being blamed for Tucson?

She’s pretty much the only one left that I trust. I’m frankly to the point of wishing she’d lead the way to a new, genuinely conservative party.

The GOP, already champing at the bit for amnesty and homo-marriage crap, can go burn in hell where it belongs.

You do know that she supports GOProud, the Republican gay rights group. Right?

“I would greatly prefer Sarah to Obama as President.”

“However, IMO if she had been the nominee she would have presided over a landslide defeat of historic proportions and perhaps have lost the GOP control of the House.”

If Palin can pull in 60,000 at a speech, and pull 60,000,000 million votes with John McCain (unless you think HE energized the base) why would she lose in a defeat of historic proportions?.....I am amazed when I start conversations in public, at check out lines, and the day before the election even, the gentleman told me he and his wife would love to have Sarah Palin as Commander In Chief......She overcame all the trash and lies the media threw her way and still pulled McCain/Palin over the line with an astounding number of votes......The votes are out there once the momentum begins and she starts speaking the truth on the real issues concerning this thuggish administration....Romney should have forced Bengazi into the last debate, I think Palin would have, and the media would have been forced to cover it....They could have spun it any way they wanted, but THAT would have energized those same 60,000,000 and possibly more that she was a conservative leader with guts to confront the machine IN YOUR FACE style......Now the voter fraud is a completely different story and a HUGE problem to overcome......

Palin defends GOProud participation at CPAC
posted at 10:12 am on February 7, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

No great surprise here, really; Palin has quietly backed the end of DADT and expressed support for conservative gays and lesbians in the past. Speaking here with David Brody from the Christian Broadcast Network and excerpted by Breitbart TV, Palin doesn’t endorse GOProud but does defend their attendance at CPAC

The nation’s largest gay rights advocacy organization, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), has instituted its own “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy toward conservative firebrands Sarah Palin and Sharron Angle after they implicitly — but clearly — voiced support for the gay-oriented Republican group GOProud.

“Palin defends GOProud participation at CPAC”

She said their participation was akin to us sitting with a group of liberals and exchanging ideas...You remind me of the same kind of nonsense that has followed this woman during and since her arrival to national prominence in 2008....She is not supporting a gay agenda....But she is not standing at the door and saying “your not allowed because your an adulterer or homosexual”....Be realistic, she has made it very clear she defines marriage as one man and one woman.....You will not see her carrying a gay flag around demanding specifice rights for gays......

“Might as well nominate Honey-Boo-Boo’s mom.”

You are quite unfair... with Honey-Boo-Boo’s mom...

:-)

I agree 100% with you by the way.... Palin is poison.

Palin supports allowing gay rights groups to participate at a conservative convention. I don’t. This web site for instance, does not allow gay rights views to be promoted. Why should CPAC?

I’m with you 100% on that....Promoting gay rights has no place at CPAC period....But I’m not sure Palin would be okay with them being present just to promote an agenda.....Then again the gay rights groups have shown themselves to be pretty much a one issue movement, even when they claim to be conservative....That’s a problem....Can you imagine what would happen if Palin supported banning them from the CPAC?.......How would you handle it?.....Personally, I think living an active gay lifestyle and calling yourself a conservative is not possible....But that’s just my opinion......

Because Free Republic is (rightfully) a dictatorship. This is Jim's house with Jim's rules. CPAC is a coalition of over 100 different organizations, with each group having a voice.

The CPAC convention is hosted by the American Conservative Union. They can keep gay rights groups out, just as this site does.

Rove is toast.

Morris can keep on writing kiddie books. The kiddies are gullible.

I like Rasmussen, but it’s time for him to start a second career. Vacuum-cleaner salesman, perhaps?
