Palin Backs Romney — With a $5,000 Check
The Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire ^ | November 2, 2012 | Brody Mullins

If money talks, then Sarah Palin has finally endorsed Mitt Romney.

Newly released campaign-finance reports show that Ms. Palin’s political fund donated $5,000 to Mr. Romney’s presidential campaign Wednesday.

Ms. Palin is normally known for her splashy endorsements, but the donation from SarahPAC was made without fanfare: It was buried amid hundreds of pages of donations disclosed on Form 6 of Mr. Romney’s “Filing FEC-831889” made public Friday.

Ms. Palin, a former Alaska governor who was the GOP vice presidential nominee in 2008, declined to make an endorsement during the presidential primary, choosing instead to continue speculation that she might throw her hat into the ring at any moment. When Mr. Romney all but sewed up the Republican nomination, Ms. Palin continued to withhold her endorsement.

Interestingly, after Mr. Romney tapped Rep. Paul Ryan to be his running mate, Ms. Palin posted a statement on her Facebook page praising Mr. Ryan and bashing President Barack Obama. Some people viewed that statement as an endorsement of Mr. Romney, though she didn’t use the word “endorse” in the 1,175-word statement, which focused mostly on the president...

And you and others said the same thing about Romney the last 4 years....yet you’re going to support him because we have to, because the alternative is horrific.

At the end of the day folks, if it comes down to CC and a liberal for the POTUS, I and most others on the right side of the aisle are going to vote for CC. His first constituency is the people of New Jersey, no one else. He did what he had to do. Bashing Obama or standing there being disrespectful would have hurt Romney terribly.

“The article implies it is from her PAC, which she controls.”

I understand that, but where did the money originate - from her personal bank account or from supporters’ earlier donations?

Either way I am not being critical. To me the answer to that question tells a slightly different story of where SP’s sentiments truly are.

If Alaska was decimated like New Jersey was and Palin was still Governor there, she would have acted just like CC did this week. CC had no choice and neither would Palin.

Bullshit! Palin is not a spineless phony like Christie.

Christie could have just thanked the president for coming to his state and said he appreciates the president's concern for the citizens effected by the storm. Period. Instead, Christie gushed over Obama repeatedly and lavished unwarranted praise upon him.

The people of New Jersey, his constituents, disagree. That is who he answers to first. The two spent several hours together. Do you expect him to just say “we appreciate your concern for the citizens effect by the storm”...and then not say or answer any questions the remainder of the day.

Dream land. This is the real world, with people watching every move under a microscope. He has to straddle a fence for his state as well as not look like a pompous blowhard that could cost his party if he goes to strong the other way.

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. If he went to hard and the national press killed Romney because of it, what does that accomplish? NOTHING

.
We’ll see.

Obama and Cristie have set themselves up to fall below the level of expectation, and so far it doesn’t look good for either of them.

Sorry but thats bullshot.
All Christie had to do was complain to the media that loves him so much if zero didn’t come up with any money or help. It would have happened. He had and has no guts andhas no loyalty to the party.Outside of NJ he couldn’t be elelcted to dog catcher.

PAC and SuperPAC money almost always comes from numerous outside contributors, so I doubt if Palin household money went to Gov. Romney, if that’s what you mean.

We’ll definitely see. This is a divided country and I think many independents are looking for people that can get things done, sometimes reaching across party lines. I know that doesn’t sit well with many here, but that is how many independents view it.

It is a strength for Mitt Romney in this race coming from Massachusetts which is dominated by Democrats. It is probably an asset for Christie as governor of another heavily Democrat state. The simple reason is the alternative.

I know a lot of people here don’t like Romney, but they hate Obama even more. I predicted this 8 months ago because the hard core conservatives will hold their nose and pull that lever for Mitt before they sit it out again and watch Obama wreck the whole place. If Mitt loses and Christie is the nominee in 2016, conservatives will vote for Christie or else they just give another 4 years to the Democrats.

Because of the divisive nature of our citizenry right now, these are the realities that we live in. Now, whether he can get through the primary season in 2016 (that’s if Mitt loses) is another story altogether.

Yes, that's what I meant.

It matters not, however, for I was quite the strong Palinista back when I thought she was going to run, and I will enthusiastically support her should she have a change of heart.

As for Mr. Romney, I will be pulling that lever before high noon on Tuesday, and expect to be fully engaged to do what I can to support a President Romney as he navigates his way around the treacherous waters of the ‘Iron Triangle’ (unions, media, democrats; as pointed out by Reagan).

I’ll support President Romney as long as he governs as a Constitutional, small-government Conservative.
