The buzz is that Ann Romney's speech was off the charts and that Chris Christie's speech was moderately good but didn't have the red meat people wanted. I tend to disagree. Christie's speech was fantastic but in a much more subtle way. He showed the stark differences. Thoughts?
The buzz needs a new battery.
Both good, Ann better, scripted Christie took some brightness off his appeal.
I thought that Gov. Christie’s speech was one of his best speeches. He sounded like his is on fire.
Ann Romney, I missed her speech.
I saw it the same way you did: Ann was fine but I thought Chris Christie was great. To me, he outlined the challenges we face as a country. I don’t know what she could have said that would change my impression. They are both preaching to the choir. BTW, I am a woman and didn’t necessarily feel any connection with her. Not that I didn’t like her, it just didn’t move the needle for me.
I think Christie’s speech was written by GOPe consultants and he just read if off the page.
My sister in law said Ann Romney’s speech brought tears to her eyes, then she added she was on her feet clapping and cheering over Christie’s speech.
I don’t know either way, I was watching reruns of Big Bang Theory.
I liked the subtle attacks, but we need to ramp it up. Christie sounded like he was running. ‘stand up with ME’
Chris Christie believes in man-made global warming.
he is not against illegal immigration.
he is not against Obamacare.
he is pro-Islam.
...
how is he different from Obama ?
the only good thing about him,
is he makes Romney look like a true conservative...
That may sound tangential, but it's not if you watched Fox News.
Christie set the stage for the nominees to tackle the big issues.
He reassured the audience it can be done, and asked all of us to get behind the tem.
Goal accomplished.
Ann was very natural and effective. She revealed their humble roots, and very importantly that part of the mitt mystique is his humbleness.
Have seen examples of this in another post on the forum. Example, he paid for the education of a deceased friends children.
Mitt could use Christie’s advice about being yourself so you don’t have to remember who you pretended to be the day before.
I held my breath at the thought of how Gov Christie would speak, knowing he can be a bomb thrower thereby opening himself up to ridicule not from the Dems but the Lame Stream Media. But he threw bombs in a very Reagan like way that indeed framed what needs to be done (IMHO): It is time for us, as a new greatest generation, to save America as our parents/grand parents did from the Axis and the USSR. The challenge is as great.
Christie is better when he is talking off the cuff when agitated, IMO.
I thought Ann delivered hers like a pro!
You men remember she was talking to women!
IMHO Christy was self-serving
Christie praised the G.I. bill and Ann praised free scholarships for a quarter of high school students. So they have the meme of getting your college education paid for by someone else in common.
I liked them both. Ann Romney is a classy lady, who would bring a little proper back to the position of FLOTUS. Christie did a good job of laying out philosophical differences in the dominant ideologies of the day. I LOVE that Obama was persona non grata.
You all musta missed Ann Romney’s quote=something like”Ours is a real marraige”. Could she be referring to Bill/Hillary?
They were both GREAT speeches!
I don’t think Christie changed one vote. I think Ann Romney may change many votes.
Maybe Totus and Flotus?
Christie is just like Romney.
Hi...SVCW, and ALL
I Loved Both Speeches...My NJ Govenor was Great!
Mrs. Ann Romney really Hit a BIG HOME RUN TONIGHT!
I also LOVE The BIG BANG THEORY....my Favorite is Sheldon!
But then again...I enjoy the entire cast....they're Excellent! and make me LAUGH and LAUGH and LAUGH!
Oh. Shut. Up.
Seriously.
The GI bill was paid for with blood and limbs.
A lot of the women are saying she brought tears to their eyes. They don’t know she is a pro-abortionist and so is her husband Mitt. IOW, her speech was just as much self-promoting as Christie’s. It’s all one big sham. The convention is a giant, white washed tomb with lots of dead bodies rotting within.
She probably meant Barry and Mickey.
Funny though, especially how even Meghan Kelly made it clear that Juan Williams could eat S#!t and die for that remark.
I’d call him a useful idiot, but I think his usefulness has run out for the left. Poor Juan, he loses the left by taking money from Fox News, and he loses us just because he’s a friggin’ dolt.
In her world view the only “Real Marriages” are ones sealed in a Mormon temple.
Christie set the stage for the nominees to tackle the big issues.
He reassured the audience it can be done, and asked all of us to get behind the team.

Christie is the FIRST person that I have heard that made ANY mention of the sacrifice it’s going to take to get the nation’s problems solved. He’s RIGHT...and it’s refreshing to hear the truth.
And that is not a snarky comment. That is a fact.
Ann Romney’s theme in her speech was such a bunch of woman worshiping, pandering BS, that it makes it impossible to take her POTUS seeking husband serious. I thought he was a pretty serious guy until I heard that dribble. Bring on the Bill Cosby sitcom where dad is a... well, I’ll start with this commentary...
I would feel a lot safer with Mitt in the Oval Office!!!!!
And I cannot imagine Mitt Romney with his feet propped up on WH furniture!
Two different targets!! Both hit very near target!!
The Scholarship program is just that AN earned program for the top 25% of high school graduates in the state, regardless of economic circumstances. Educating the brightest IS A GOOD IDEA.
Here’s a fact: nobody pays attention to those who talk to themselves.
“Two different targets!! Both hit very near target!!”
Yes, both Bulls Eyes!
Ann Romney’s speech had me gagging and groping for a shot of insulin... stat!
At first. Then it got better; then it got even better than that, and by the end it was pretty darn impressive.
Christie’s was good, although not great. He didn’t slice and dice Obamao like he COULD have, but it was a decent workmanlike speech. Probably the right speech for the circumstances. He can save the brutal red meat stuff for the campaign trail.
Just my 2c.
I’m with you. Juan’s remark was horrible.
What a cheap shot.
Those were insignificant parts of both speeches, certainly not “Praise”, and I guess if you’ve got a problem with providing educational benefits for veterans who served their country under the GI Bill, then you and I don’t have much to talk about.
Anyone with ears would have heard very STRONG messages from both about the importance of self-sufficiency and getting the government out of the way of business and free enterprise.
Elendur, if you watched his speech, you could answer your question. Chris Christie may or may not be in perfect alignment on every issue with a typical Freeper, but he believes in smaller, smarter government, people, not government, tackling challenges with conservative solutions. He has a photo of Reagan behind him. Obama looks to Mao and american communists for inspiration. Obama ignores the issues and demagogues...Christie takes them conservative solutions. Obama empowers union bosses, Christie takes them on and reduces their power in the statehouse. The contrast with Obama could not be more stark.
No contest.....Ann Romney ! For Christie, how does one follow the very best Speech since the 2012 Election begun? Ann got five standing ovations!!!
I'd vote for Romney just to get Ann as the First Lady.
“I was watching reruns of Big Bang Theory.”
You missed some historical moments, but then the MSM wanted you to miss all of the historical moments. Send me you TS card so I can punch it.
What kind of ASS thinks of the GI bill as paid for by someone else? Every GI who served damned well deserves his/her educational benefits.
I don’t waste my God-given time listening to LIBERALS, LIARS or the godless. Let Ann blow her words out her butt - the stench of the godless is repellant to GOD and to HIS Own!
Ann spoke from her heart with a theme of love for her man and her country. But, it was cleverly designed to be a direct hit against Obama's fake war on women issue. It worked well. A special extra to her speech was a great introduction provided by Puerto Rico's conservative First Lady Luce Vela.
Both of them were great efforts. I think they were two of the top three; the other being by former Alabama (D) Rep. Artur Davis.
