We might as well pack it in, guys. A new Bloomberg poll says Obama's up by thirteen points:
Obama leads Romney 53 percent to 40 percent among likely voters, even as the public gives him low marks on handling the economy and the deficit, and six in 10 say the nation is headed down the wrong track, according to the poll conducted June 15- 18. The survey shows Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, has yet to repair the damage done to his image during the Republican primary. Thirty-nine percent of Americans view him favorably, about the same as when he announced his presidential candidacy last June, while 48 percent see him unfavorably -- a 17-percentage point jump during a nomination fight dominated by attacks ads. A majority of likely voters, 55 percent, view him as more out of touch with average Americans compared with 36 percent who say the president is more out of touch.
So Americans apparently believe that President "Doing Fine" is 20 percentage points less "out of touch" with average Americans than his opponent. Fascinating. I'm sure he'll ponder that statistic as he enters the back nine on his 101st presidential golf outing. The survey sample is skewed, obviously, but let's address this survey from another perspective. Ask yourself the following questions:
(1) Do you believe Obama fever is twice as hot as it was in 2008 (when Obama won by roughly 6.5 points)? This poll says it is.
(2) How has Barack Obama netted 13 points since Bloomberg's March poll, which had the race tied at 47?
(3) Does Bloomberg have a better grasp on this race than Rasmussen and Gallup, both of which show Romney ahead today by identical 47-45 margins?
(4) Does Barack Obama have a commanding lead nationally, despite being tied or down in new polls out of Michigan and Iowa -- both states that he won by double digits last time?
(5) If Barack Obama is cruising to a decisive victory, why is an expanding pool of elected Democrats choosing to jump ship from September's Democratic National Convention, where Obama will be re-nominated?
(6) How massive would Obama's lead be if he hadn't just suffered a solid month of failed attacks, exploded narratives, party defections, botched events, inadvertent tells, and dreadful economic news? 30 points? 50?
Parting thought: With economic numbers being revised downward today, might the US cross back into negative job growth this month? It's ugly out there. Thank goodness the private sector is doing fine, and the president has so much breathing room in the polls. Thanks, Bloomberg.
Maybe Bloomberg paid them. After all, so much of his nanny-state legislation happened under the current presidency.
what the...
Romney has been a couple of points ahead in Rasmussen for a couple of weeks now and tied or slightly ahead in Gallup. The most recent CBS/NYT had it within margin of error.. geez
They must’ve oversampled homos and wetbacks.
That’s OK, let them believe their own lies.
Some adults and they oversampled rats 9 pct compared to the last time.
Well I knew that the Romney was going to win easily was not realistic. However, this is a stupid poll and does not mean a thing. The only poll that matters is the state polling and the electoral votes. That is what wins the Presidency. This is going to be another CLOSE election probably decided on one state as has been for quite a few of our Presidential elections. Romney can win but this he is going to win with 370 electorals is not realistic. I think if Romney wins, it will be in the 280 area. I think if Obama wins it will be in the 280 area as well...no blow out this round. The country is still too divided and Obama has not come out during winter and say put on a sweater. Obama has not had rationing of gas either. If those two things occur between now and Election day than perhaps Romney wins in a landslide. Right now it is anyones game and it will be close so everyone VOTE!!!!
Vote 66% against gay Marriage
If this is even close to being true, it shows how easily manipulated the electorate is. No one of sound mind would support someone who has done such damage to America as 0.
On the other hand, Bloomberg TV is so obviously in the tank for 0 they don’t even try to hide it anymore. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn this is a total fraud. So much for objective financial reporting.
The name ‘Bloomberg’ is becoming synonymous with BS
“The Divine One” will win in November. The mere fact he was elected in the first place is a symptom that the American people have lost their capacity to select able leaders. It is a great people that produce great leaders, we no longer have that capacity. Events will be manufactured, statistics manipulated and prices lowered until after the election. Two weeks of intense media treatment and people will believe we are in boom times!
Outlier
Well, if Bloomberg says it’s so, I guess we should all just pack it in and give up. /sarc
Baraq did 53% and 365 EVs in 2008 against weak McLame with no accountable record and full court press of SEIU, ACORN, and the MSM.
I don't see him as nearly as formidable in 2012 and think Romney has a good shot at winning.
You will see more of these fake polls all the way through the election. If the race is close and he loses, he will claim election fraud using the polls as proof. He will not relinquish power at the end of his term ... he will declare or cause an emergency situation where he can gain emergency powers .... remember that you are dealing with a communist. They never abide by the rules and change them as necessary.
I think Rommney wants to be president Mc Cain was just in it for an Obama win and to sneak a peak down Palins Blouse
The poll was probably conducted on a NYC streetcorner with the polling person flanked by Black Panthers with nightsticks.
No amount of money is going to program that out of his persona.
Don't let me have to tell you again that he is just a sanctioned leftist tool to smear conservatives.
Zogbyism.
The presstitutes said that it was going to be a close race between Bush and Dukakis in 1988 too.
"Thirty-eight percent of those surveyed in Bloombergs poll say they consider themselves Democrats or independents who lean that way and 33 percent consider themselves Republicans or independents who lean Republican, a 5-point Democratic advantage. In 2008, the presidential election exit polls showed the Democrats with a 7-point advantage."
Who thinks the Dems will lose only 2% due to a less motivated constiuency? Or, that Republicans will be less motivated than we were for McLame? (I am less motivated, but I'm a Conservative, not a Republicsocialistisokaywithme)
I have no doubt that his support has eroded, that being said he will win. The reasons underlying my prediction are many: i.e. massive voter fraud, huge blocs of voters, whole hearted media support, the economy will on paper miraculously improve, Romney is a weak damaged candidate and lastly a weak and lost electorate easily swayed. The cash will flow!
What a joke. Both Rassmussen and Gallup have it Romney 47, Obama 45.
And that was just the newsroom.
The numbers are correct. Bloomberg got the names mixed up.
Barry: They hate me. Even Leno is against me. I am quiting.
Axelrod: No no, they love you. Look at this poll.
Bloomberg poll of what, Bloomberg's co-op?
The “Divine One” is going down in flames...
Why don’t you just stuff it?
Clearly a bogus poll. It may warm the hearts of liberals who live in delusion anyway and those conservatives who believe Mitt Romney is a communist plant who intends to convert all of us to Mormons when he’s elected. However, rational people realize that Obama is very much damaged goods and although Romney is no conservative, any comparison to Obama makes Romney look like a giant and certainly preferable to the liberal messiah. The media won’t be able to seal an Obama victory this time. Although still influential, their credibility has been damaged by their blatant partisanship. With Obama’s numerous gaffes, the rotten economy and a GOP candidate that looks like he actually wants to win, I don’t see Obama pulling it off, this time. However, he is a commie thug surrounded by people who are much the same and they won’t let go of power, willingly. Votes will be stolen in record numbers and if Romney wins, it has to be by a big enough margin so as to preclude claims of ‘fraud’, a la 2000. I believe Romney can win and fake polls showing Obama ahead by ridiculous margins don’t alter that belief.
We both know that’s not going to happen. We’re stuck with him. We’ll be lucky if he picks a “Dan Quayle” type for VP, but I doubt if they’ll be even that conservative. There’ll be no “Sarah Palin” this time, I guarantee you. He is who he is. But that is 10X better than the Marxist we have now. Or do you disagree?
Let’s hope so. As you can tell I doubt it.
Bogus numbers

The truth can be hurtful and I do feel your pain!
No its not and you are one of the biggest cry-babies on Free Republic always with negative and destructive comments!! You keep it up and I will summon the Viking Kitties full force to give you perspective.
Or a fag bathhouse flanked by Black Panthers with Chinese mushrooms.
The bottom line is 55% don’t want 4 more years of Obama. They just haven’t commited to Romney yet, but they will break for him as election day gets closer, probably by 2 or 3 to 1. I’m guessing Romney wins by about 53-47 when it’s all done.
So sorry. I send love and kisses.
Believe this poll, ignore what happened to the Obama supporters in Wisconsin....
Yep. With all due respect to your Lone Star state, we will have moved 100% from Marshall Dillon under Ike to Martial Law under the 0.
Second, you reply to so-real: We both know thats not going to happen. Were stuck with [Romney].
I sadly agree that unless we have a miracle, we will be looking at O v R in the presidential. That means that unless a miracle happens, regardless of how we vote a liberal will take the White House and be an enemy of conservatives in Congress.
Well be lucky if he picks a Dan Quayle type for VP, but I doubt if theyll be even that conservative. Therell be no Sarah Palin this time, I guarantee you. He is who he is. But that is 10X better than the Marxist we have now. Or do you disagree?
I agree that at this point in time, anyone looks 10X better than the Marxist we have now.
But one year into a Romney administration, when Obama was long forgotten and Romney was quietly, firmly snubbing conservatives at every turn as he advanced the global warming agenda, a "new" health care plan that looked very much like the old one, the homosexual agenda, and nominating liberal judges much like the ones he nominated in Massachusetts, a lot of rudely surprised conservatives would be kicking themselves and feeling a sick despair in the pits of their stomachs 10X worse than what they feel for Obama today.
Multiply that 10X if Romney wins by a landslide because while at this point in time WE all know such a landslide would be a referendum against Obama, one year into a Romney presidency that referendum would be perverted into a popular mandate for Romney's brand of progressivism. COUNT ON IT.
There is no such thing as voting "against" -- a vote is ONLY for something. A vote for Romney is a vote FOR advancing liberalism on the back of the Republican party, no matter how much those who voted for Romney intended it to be against Obama.
I will be voting FOR third party in the presidential race as a way to vote FOR splitting the vote so that whoever wins, enters office on such a weak plurality that he is defensive and vulnerable to enemies both within his own party and in the opposition party. I will vote FOR making the next government-advancing liberal president as weak and embattled as possible, so that conservatives have a better chance in their fight against him. Because our conservatives will find an enemy in the president regardless of which guy wins.
Many who vote for Romney will tell themsevles they're voting "against" Obama, but the reality is that they will be voting FOR the advance of liberalism, regardless of what they mean to vote "against."
I am right there with you, Bro. FReeper.
As Obama pushes hard left, the history books will record that he was slapped down for it, and hopefully impeached or arrested. As Romney pushes left, even if not hard, the history books will record that Republicans were the pro-abortion party, the pro-homosexual party, the pro-illegal-immigration party, the pro-stimulus-economy party, etc, etc, etc. That's a strategic mistake.
Your call is SPOT ON.
LOL, so true but somehow it is also synonomous with fascist pig.
“Outlier”
Agreed.
Reagan and Carter were “too close to call” THAT DAY.
Obama is a left fanatic with a scary agenda. Romney is a politician who has shown that he is willing to change his positions, and it will be up to us to put on the pressure if he is elected.
That's insane. If 'bam get a second term, he'll get really nasty. He'll gut the constitution, seize property, extort, appoint at least two leftist Supreme Court Justices (anybody want to bet on Eric Holder?), prosecute servicemen and citizens who defend themselves, open the borders... Do I need go on?
Slapped down? What's happened over the last two weeks, and what have we seen in the media? Impeached? Congress will have it's hands full trying to keep itself out of prison. History? We won't have any history for him to go down in.
Take a look at Venezuela. That is what we'll be if 'bam stays.
