Politico has discovered the Sarah Palin of 2012, and it's: Sarah Palin. Though the years since 2008 have seen her wild popularity and seeming omnipresence fade, she's edging back into the 2012 election with a string of successful endorsements. She's made four so far, and two have won their respective primary races; the other two races have yet to be decided. For comparison: Rick Santorum has also been making endorsements, "to no great effect," Politico notes. If Palin's picks continue to do well, she can use her success as evidence of her continued influence.
"There is a vacuum on the right now, and … Sarah Palin has as much a claim to that as anyone right now," says one Republican strategist. "I think she has settled into her role as the power behind the thousands [of] thrones, instead of sitting on one." But what does Palin ultimately want? The answer to that question remains unclear, as she has seemingly no desire for either an elected office or her own TV show. One thing is certain, as another GOP strategist points out: "Gov. Palin will be around and have a following as long as she’s on Fox."

name: Gov. Palin.
Admirable for the principle of it, however unwise for lack of unity.
Along that line, consider sending a donation to one of her endorsements: Cruz for Senator in Texas. He is a true conservative!
The only thing Santorum did was scew up Gingrich and give us Romney.

I like Palin as much as the next conservative but Romney is going to have to be it (R), warts and all unless we’re prepared to endure another 4 years of the Obamastration.
Her endorsement got him up to 34% thus 66% still were against him. It will be an interesting runoff come July 31.
The author conveniently omitted Sarah's successful endorsement record in 2010 elections....

How about those of us in solidly Dem and in solidly GOP states write in Palin to cut into Romney’s national vote total, while those in potential swing states vote for the “severely conservative” and somewhat patriotic big government liberal from Massachusetts over the anti-American big government liberal from Kenya/Indonesia/Hawaii/Chicago?
What has Sarah Palin accomplished since resigning as Governor? She needs to actually do something other then just be the person that gave a great speech at the convention four years ago. Just sayin’

Can’t say never but I usually come to a decision based upon info over a time period.
I don’t know about Politico, but I’d like to think that the GOP and conservative establishments (not to mention more than a few Freepers…ahem…) have learned that sometimes, there’s nothing better than the real thing.
The endorsement of an organization (like a union) is a different story.

I was slumming around on DU a few days ago when up pops this advert calling for support for Sarah Palin and her endorsement for Sen Cruz. It took a while for me to realize that some type of DU spyware saw I was conservative and up popped the add.
I NEVER post on DU. It is too slimy.

Of course I don’t know for sure how Cruz would operate in DC. Many have disappointed in the past. However, I based my judgment and my money on the comments from Governor Palin and Mark Levin.
If you think best of his opponent, I urge you to send LTGov Dewhurst your contribution.

She seems to have found her niche..... giving a last minute booster shots to conservatives in select races.

The term "crony capitalism" is not one that Romney appears to have used before. The only politician who has used the term "crony capitalism" in recent memory is Gov. Palin. She used it often during the latter part of 2011.

It looks like Mittens is fishing for a Palin endorsement. How sweet. You'd have to believe that he saw with his own eyes how she energized the ticket in '08, and realizes that she has the uncanny ability to not only energize the base, but rally Reagan democrats and independents.
Palin's endorsement of Romney, if it happens, would be an immense boost to his campaign, one the dems could not overcome.

You would do better to base your judgement on people from Texas than rely on the judgement of people from Pennsylvania and Alaska. They have their own agenda, and their political agenda is based on their own political interests, not the interests of Texans and the State of Texas.
Lt. Gov. Dewhurst is a consrvative who will best represent the people and the State of Texas.

If you have to ask that question, you haven't been paying attention to American Politics in the last couple of years.
Perhaps you heard of, say, the 2010 Congressional elections, wherein Sarah worked tirelessly to help achieve a GOP landslide.
Sarah made endorsements, she spoke at events, she went on TV, energized TEA partiers, and overall had an enormous positive influence on GOP/conservative turnout and electoral success, by any reasonable objective analysis.
To fail to recognize Sarah Palin's accomplishments since resigning as governor is to willfully ignore reality.
A whole lot of people with open minds listen to her. They don't vote in lockstep with her suggestions (McCain and Hatch come to mind), but they do look into candidates she endorses. A substantial proportion of conservatives, after checking on those endorsed politicians, find that she was right about someone they overlooked. It's more "nuanced" (to use a word that so many Sarah-haters love) than changing their minds because of Sarah, but her endorsements result in huge jumps in polls and in votes. She takes good candidates who would have been ignored by early deciders because no one ever heard of them and then would have been ignored on election day because voters want the best among the front runners and her picks are so often too obscure to be considered competitive before receiving her endorsement.
The Washington Post tracks Palin endorsements - a sign that people care enough to attract clicks. This woman, who endorses far more relative unknowns than front runners, and VERY few incumbents, had a pretty good record in 2010: 33 wins, 10 primary losses, and 20 general election losses. That's just barely over 50%, but non-Palin endorsed challengers have about a 10% success rate against incumbents. We can't prove that they won because of her - they might as Palin haters claim just be good candidates who would have emerged from obscurity without her, but their polls jump almost immediately, and their election outcomes are startlingly positive.
If palin were to endorse early (which she doesn’t) and if she were to campaign for those she endorses (I don’t think she does) then it would be easier to make a case for the impact of her endorsements. But, jumping in at the eleventh hour with nothing but an announcement does not create a model where one can say her action changed minds and put people over the top.
“Mark Levin lives in Virginia. He just gave a nice appraisal of the Texas situation. I appreciate your interest in informing me, but I will continue to support Cruz.”
Levin may live in Virginia now, but he is a Philadelphia carpetbagger from way back.
Levin is just like every other Lawyar. He lives to manipulate and control every citizen of every state from his perch, or should I say his bunker, in suburban Washington D.C.
Not much different from every Progressive proponent of centralized federal government, the only difference being a one of degree, primarily because he is afraid the current crop of Progressives are going to go too far and end up killing the Golden Goose.
