Obama super PAC chief: Equating Rush Limbaugh with Bill Maher ‘is crazy’
The Daily Caller ^ | March 8, 2012 | Jeff Poor

Bill Burton, the former Obama 2008 campaign press secretary who went on to found the pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA, appeared on Andrea Mitchell’s MSNBC show Thursday, trying to distinguish between the rhetoric used by HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher and conservative radio talker Rush Limbaugh. Maher recently donated $1 million to Priorities USA.

Mitchell asked Burton how Maher has gotten away with what he said about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin while Limbaugh was condemned for his own ill-advised remarks.

“Well, a couple of things,” Burton said. “First of all, obviously, some of those things were vulgar and inappropriate and said over the course of years of a comedian’s life. It’s not language I would use or language we would use at Priorities USA.”

Mitchell noted that was similar to what Republican presidential hopeful former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said when he was confronted with the question about Limbaugh’s rhetoric. But Burton justified Maher’s attacks as those being from a comedian, not a political leader.

“But the notion that there is an equivalence between what a comedian has said over the course of his career and what the de facto leader of the Republican Party said to sexually degrade a woman who led in a political debate of our time, is crazy,” he said. “There’s no just similarity about what Rush Limbaugh said, lying about the argument that Miss Fluke was making — a law student at Georgetown — and what a comedian has said in the past.”

Burton went on to use the question posed by Mitchell to attack Romney, pointing out that Romney had also sought the endorsement of Ted Nugent.

“And finally, if we want to have this debate where we’re stacking up what supporters of candidates have said over time, you know Mitt Romney begged Ted Nugent for his endorsement, and he gave it to him, and he embraced it, and his campaign was bragging about it,” Burton continued.

“But you look at some of the things he’s said. But this is all distraction between some of the real differences in this race between Mitt Romney and President Obama on key issues. And that’s what’s important here. Where do they stand on contraception? What kind of Supreme Court justice is Mitt Romney going to put in place? An Antonin Scalia or an Elena Kagan? That’s the important [thing] here.”

So it's really about disagreeing with Miss Fluke, not about insulting women?

No, its really about a double standard. Just labeling oneself a comedian does not exonerate one from nasty remarks. And, let’s not forget - when its convenient, then the left says that Rush is just an entertainer.

"Equating Rush Limbaugh with Bill Maher is crazy."

I gotta agree with that!

Rush TOWERS over Maher in every possible virtue--notably intelligence.

Mz Fluke is the main lobbyist for the Sex Change Surgery industry. It really is about "birth control" in the broadest possible sense ~ and this guy knows it.

If I were to call Michelle Obama the same thing Maher called Sarah Palin, Goober would have the Secret Service parked out front my house.

Liberals always find ways with justifying the disgusting things they say..because they have nothing else. Basically what Burton is saying here is “Sarah Palin deserved to be called those despicable names because she’s a Conservative, therefore its allowed” that is really what he wanted to say..Obama doesn’t need Maher’s money, but he and the rest of his far left cronies can’t say anything bad about Maher or else they will lose some of their base, that is what this is all about, appease Maher, get love from his base

Hypocrite.

I guess Rush is no more the entertainer the jackasses claimed he was.

Really? Fluke is a two-bit activist. Palin is a former Governor and vice presidential candidate. Fluke deserves respect and Palin doesn’t? B.S.

No, the real difference is that Maher gave the Obama superPAC $1 million and Rush didn’t.

No Burton, you’re crazy.

Here’s why: it’s not just Maher. There are dozens if not hundreds of prominent leftists who spoke the same way about Governor Palin.

And they did it for more than three years.

All Bill Maher does is comment on politics, so you can’t give him a pass on this. As far as Limbaugh goes, you need to be entertaining to host an am radio show and be successful, so Limbaugh isn’t completely serious either.

Liberals always find ways with justifying the disgusting things they say..because they have nothing else. Basically what Burton is saying here is “Sarah Palin deserved to be called those despicable names because she’s a Conservative, therefore its allowed”

Just another example, one in a never ending stream, of the defective thought process of communist agenda democrats.

It goes like this...

“This is what I just thought up, therefore everyone must accept it as reality. If they do not the only possible reasons are they are “haters” or bigoted/racist right wing extremists. I am the “progressive liberal” here, so my statement must be correct.”

In the mean time everyone with a shred of ordinary common sense is laughing at the idiot for standing on their head screaming that “everybody is upside down.”

Now it appears that a majority of his followers are joining right in on the delusion, with Little bammy the leader of the parade.

Which makes me wonder.

What will Mr. narcissistic delusional construct of a reality based on a childhood of communist indoctrination, homosexuality, affirmative action college "degrees," and a documented twenty years of reverend jeremiah alvesta wright, jr do when National Election poll numbers quite possably in the low forties to high thirties percent range are staring him in the face?

What will he do with that Executive Power when it dawns on his narcissistic delusion that he WILL BE a total, complete and utter cluster **** of a failed President.

What will he do to force the world upside down with himself as the only one not standing on his head?

I would be looking for the little fagot to go right `round the bend in October.

I am starting to think if he does he is going to take a large number of his fellow delusional "liberal progressives" with him.

We will have a "Jim Jones" in every city and town in America.

Let’s see, it takes them 393 words to explain this.

Kind of defeats the efficacy.

Rush should have said “It makes her a thief, who’s sexually active.” That’s so much better.

I can't believe noone has bothered mention that when Rush said "slut", he was pointing out that is what you call a woman who wants to be paid for sex. The left wing examples simply call conservative women sluts because they disagree with their politics.

Namecalling is probably inappropriate at any level. However, the hyperbolic outrage over the very near appropriate use of the term by Rush contrasted with the absolute silence over the pure vitriolic use of the term by the left is more than revealing. The problem is, the intelligent people on the left are pure liars and the intelligent people on the right are too meek to point it out. Everyone else, it just flies over their heads and the conversation boils down to either, RUSH IS MEAN or WELL WHAT ABOUT BILL MAHER?

It is profoundly amazing how the liberals find asshats like burton to speak for them and still expect anyone with half a brain cell to buy into his dribble.

Maher is an untalented unfunny comedian who the left uses to say liberal things in poor taste in the political arena under the fakery of humor and satire.

Whenever anyone mentions they watch his show, I write them off into perpetuity as unthinking dolts.

...what the de facto leader of the Republican Party said to sexually degrade a woman who led in a political debate of our time, is crazy...

He used the word slut, SO? It is a perfectly good English word. The modern sense of "a sexually promiscuous woman" dates to at least 1450. However women on three Continent's have demonstrated saying they're proud of being "sluts", and have given it a positive connotation (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/women_shealth/8510743/These-slut-walk-women-are-simply-fighting-for-their-right-to-be-dirty.html.)
Maybe they should form a union? They might even get a health plan they like...

Regards,
GtG

I’m guessing that was a real sacrifice for Bill Maher, whereas $1 million for Rush is pocket change.

I wonder if Maher really gave that much or if it is just propaganda to benefit each of them, Obama and Maher, and to put pressure on other Lefies to do the same..

Didn’t think of that. FEC records would tell the story, but BHO controls the executive branch, so no guarantee there. wouldn’t put it past the Chicago gang.
