Ideological bigotry: Calling Republicans terrorist and more must stop
The Washington Times ^ | August 3, 2011 | Eric Golub

Racial and ethnic bigotry have long been rejected, but once again the left needs ideological bigotry to get them through their day.

In the 1860s, the Civil War was fought to preserve the Union and reinforce the notion that blacks would never again be relegated to a value of 3/5 of a human being. Slavery was abolished, and the struggle for full equality commenced.

In the 1940s, German Jews were loaded on to boxcars, stripped naked, and thrown into ovens for "delousing." My great-grandparents were the victims of the worst genocide in world history. My grandfather saved seven people including himself, my grandmother, and my father. The Holocaust is with my father every day not as a historical footnote, but as the beginning years of his life. He entered the world as a newborn baby being shot at.

On September 11th, 2001, 19 Saudi Arabian Arab Muslims hijacked four American planes and turned them into guns against our own cities. 3,000 people were murdered in New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania.

Acts of pure evil such as slavery, the Holocaust, and Islamofascist terrorism boggle the mind because they are so vile that most human beings could not possibly contemplate them.

Compounding the pain of the innocent victims are liberals who find political gain and personal satisfaction in rendering ordinary philosophical disputes comparable to the worst of all atrocities.

The American left has simply gone stark raving mad.

Members of Congress cheered when Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords courageously walked on the floor to cast a vote only months after surviving an act of evil against her. Yet many of those same liberals still compare conservatives and Republicans, who were also cheering for Ms Giffords, to the very evil that almost took her life.....

Our next civil war will probably resemble the Spanish Civil War, rather than the War Between the States.

Or, as Travis McGee has suggested in his works, it will resemble a cross between the Balkan wars and the South American Dirty Wars.

Gabrielle Giffords is a media "feel good" story, but I have trouble summoning much sympathy for her. After all, as an abortion supporter and one who has supported funding for Planned Parenthood, how many lives has she been responsible for snuffing out? Is her life more valuable than that of a helpless infant? A summary of her position on abortion is as follows:

Congresswoman Giffords is pro-choice. She has stated that abortions should be safe, legal, and rare. She has stated that she has worked to ensure that access to "family planning services" is available to people who would have difficulty paying, which seems to indicate support for government funding for abortion services.

for the record, the slaves were never considered 3/5ths of a person in that sense. This was a law that the aboloishinists supported, and not the slave owners. This provision kept the slave states from having more representation.

One was between several states on one side (the Confederacy) and the other (the Union), the other was between socialists/communists and conservatives.

Personally, I don’t find rhetoric, even hysterical rhetoric particulary offensive so I for one am not interested in any “apology”. In fact rhetoric was far worse in the past if you look at transcripts of colonial papers or what not.

What I find most interesting about this situation is that these ridiculous libs that call tea partiers “terrorists” won’t call actual terrorists “terrorists”. In Iraq, they were insurgents or freedom fighters. And there’s no such thing as a “terrorist” attack, it’s a “man-made disaster”.

Libs calling tea partiers “terrorists” says more about the libs than it does the tea partiers.

You have that right MNDude and our “enlightened” media and talking heads prove every day they were educated beyond their intelligence when they cannot get history correct.

The North pulled a fast one on the South with the 3/5ths of a person language and it HELPED blacks but once again the SELF AVOWED “enlightened” crowd falls for their own lies.

Our next civil war will be like the first one, the Amertican Revolution...

The Committee of Safety will be brought back, posted lists of “Persons of Suspect”, burnt houses, confiscated lands and all

BTW 10 years later the French copied and improved on our “committee of safety” idea in their own revolutin

That was so hypocritical of the Leftwingtards to applaud Representative Giffords. After all, they’re the ones who let her assailant, Jared, loose to attack people.

And to think Boehner, Cantor, McConnell and the entire Republican Leadership was so deathly afraid that by adhering to the Conservative Congresspeople’s Cut Cap & Balance “hard line” they’d be “blamed” and “called names”.

Good thing they gave in to the notion Obama should have $2.4 trillion more on the credit card so they could cut off all the name calling they’d have gotten otherwise, huh???

Remember the "Chatty Cathy" doll? Well, it seems Soros et al pull the string, and all the group-speak Administration supporters move their mouths to call millions of their fellow citizens "terrorists," or "hostage takers," all because they stood firmly to slow the growth of government spending.

The very idea that TEA partiers, known by the Constitution as "We, the People," have every right, according to the Founders, to hold our representatives in government accountable.

Thomas Jefferson said, "it was intended to bind them down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution."

And, from the Writings of James Madison - Vol. 6 (to James Monroe), the "father" of the Constitution put it this way:

"To consider a principle, we must try its nature, and see how far it will go: in the present case, he considered the effects of the principle contended for would be pernicious. If we advert to the nature of Republican Government, we shall find that the censorial power is in the people over the Government, and not in the Government over the people."

Is it not likely that the millions of individual citizens who identify themselves as TEA party supporters simply are exercising their Constitutional duty? If so, perhaps that is why the Democrats who resort to name calling are so enraged at their boldness to assert that duty!

IIRC, the Spanish Civil War was between Fascists on one side and Communists, Socialists, and Republicans (not the Gutless Old Pretenders we know and hate, just pro-Republican form of government) on the other.

“the Civil War was fought to preserve the Union and reinforce the notion that blacks would never again be relegated to a value of 3/5 of a human being.” The 3/5ths adoption insured that the South would not have a majority vote in elections and representation. If anything the North designated “blacks as 3/5ths of a human being”!!!! The winners always get to re-write history but if you look hard enough you will find that what I am saying is true.

I'm sure if you had run that sentence by any Union soldier in 1861 you would have gotten a look of bewilderment. They weren't fighting for the rights of blacks--abolition wasn't even an announced war aim until Sept. 1862.

The 3/5 rule goes back to the Articles of Confederation period when each state had equal representation in Congress (one vote) so the relative population did not matter. It was originally a formula for assessing the states for their contributions to the general government, and reflected the belief that slaves didn't work as hard as free persons...the output of a slave was set at 60% of the output of a free person. When the formula was adopted in the Constitution for determining representation in the House of Representatives, it applied only to enslaved persons--free blacks were given the same weight as other free persons.
