[Vanity] Why Republicans Lose Elections...
A Republican website ^ | 30 October 2009 | Vanity

Posted on 10/30/2009 11:39:40 AM PDT by mbarker12474

This is why Republicans lose elections:

Crabill is trying to position herself as a conservative in the 99th House of Delegates district of Virginia, against a popular Democrat incumbant. But at the Northern Neck Republican website, the visitor is presented with Crabill at a Yacht & Country Club with elitist-looking old white women. At a formal tea party. Not the populist, conservative mass movement tea party rallies, but an elitist tea party of rich old white women.

TOPICS: Virginia; State and Local
KEYWORDS: countryclub; deathwish; republican
Sheesh.

Yes, old white people should be kicked to curb. How dare a candidate appear in public with old white people.

That’s just silly.

1) I didn’t get the impression there was anything “elitist” about these pictures. It looked like Crabill with two old ladies. So what?

2) Conservatives should vote ideology, not appearances.

Exactly. Can't Crabill get with the program? One of them needed to be a minority, the other a lesbian in a wheelchair.

You mean like dems inhabit elitist white LEFTIST parties with elitist white LEFTIST women. Please. Republicans lose elections far too often because they are liberals masquerading as conservatives. Nobody cares who this candidate spends his time with on a given afternoon if he IS and HAS BEEN a conservative. It’s the Scozzafava’s who irritate republican voters. She has the full support of the republican party big-wigs, the money necessary to run a campaign and a legacy of republican representation in the district. But she is losing to both a democrat and an “independent” because she is to the far left of a RINO, not because she met with a group of rich supporters.

Now that we’re all apparently blue-collar and Salt of the Earth people because of the tea parties (or whatever), Republicans care about whether they’re seen in the vicinity of yachts? This is stupid. I don’t mind being called an elitist. I WANT to be an elitist. So long as I’m right.

I couldn't disagree more. Have you noticed who is having $34,000 per couple fundraisers? It's not Republicans--it's Democrats.

The modern-day Democrat party has become the party of the fat cats and dependent, stupid, ignorant poor.

The comment is about the party’s website, not the event. And the local party’s portrayal of the candidate via its use of imagery, as the first thing that greets the visitor to the website.

Is this the imagery and desciption you’d use?

I agree with you. It's kind of like when Bush 43 had the signing ceremony for some kind of pro-life bill (I don't recall exactly what). Behind him were nothing but old white male politicians. A much better photo-op would have been a group of women holding their adopted babies.

Yes, people should vote ideology, not appearances--but appearances matter. If the GOP looks like the party of only the wealthy elderly, it will limit its growth outside of that demographic.

I concur. However, if you survey the general public as to who they think is the party of "the rich," probably 75% would say it's the Republican Party. If the GOP is to reclaim the middle-class, it must shed that image.

It’s a fine thing for the Republican candidate to visit the yacht and country club and rich old white ladies. But the question is, when the party presents imagery of its candidate, what does it choose for top of the fold, front page, opening web page, first paragraph, and the 30 seconds of the radio commercial?

I submit it isn’t “yachts” and “country clubs” and rich old white ladies.

(Points made here that Dems are the true elitists, phonies, etc., are well-taken.)

My comment was to refute the notion that there is anything wrong with being associated with a tea party at a yacht club.

-------------------------------------------------------

I've no problem with you on that. However, if GOP candidates take that approach, you'd better get ready for many more years of DemonRat control.

If that happens, you won't be an elitist any more--after the Rats are done confiscating your wealth.

Agreed. I’ve no problem with GOP candidates holding events at high-end venues, but they should do it the DemonRat way: no press and no photos allowed. The GOP photo-ops should be of the candidate shaking hands outside a factory, not outside the country club.

“However, if GOP candidates take that approach, you’d better get ready for many more years of DemonRat control.”

Republicans can never hope to out-pander the Democrats. It’s a losing game, because Democrats actually believe in it. That’s their bread and butter.

You can say we shouldn’t confirm people’s irrational preconceived notions, and I might agree that it’d be a good idea not to wear tophats, tailcoats, and smoke giant cigars. But unless I’m crazy, 99% of the electorate would have absolutely no reaction to the pictures above. That is, unless they had an axe to grind. In and of themselves, they are neutral.

That isn’t why republicans lose elections. It is because they lose sight of the conservative principles which they used to have.

Heaven forfend that this candidate talk to someone in her district. What does her opponent have on his site? Perhaps he is using pictures from downtown Detroit to make the voters like him more??? \s

Absolutely. It goes to show the disconnect between voters and reality. All they have to do is observe the behavior of Democrat leaders--they're filthy rich. I once read that in the US Senate, it's not even close as to who holds the most wealth--it's Democrats.

Suppose Bush had paid $35,000 per week for a home in which to stay for his vacation. He seemed to relish going back to his ranch in TX and clearing brush.

The liberals are so unaccustomed to authentic outrage that they are stunningly perplexed. So deluded by Obama worship that the harsh reality of the deep seated conservatism of the average American has taken leftists by surprise like a sucker punch. Adding to the outrage is a ‘president’ who commands us to shut up, demands we be ignored. The Obama ‘magic’ like a velvet glove on an iron fist is being exposed in the raw. The kool-aid has worn off, the sleeping giant has awakened.

As if this awakening wasn’t enough to put this administration on notice to BACK OFF, they demonize those of us who resist. They must. They must discredit the opposition so that when they attack us (watch out for the SEIU/ACORN/UNION thugs at the balance of these Town Hall Meeting) they can justify themselves by stating we ‘asked’ for it and we ‘deserve’ it. Add to that an appeal from the White House to turn in dissenters and this is what you call FASCISM.

Why are they so determined to cram this down our throats? Why are they ramping up the resistance and attacking We the People? Why not relent and let it go? There is no health care crisis. Why do they insist on calling it one? These are not rhetorical questions. In the answer to these questions lies the real story. Something stinks a lot worse than this ‘health care plan’. There is an underlying motive here that MUST BE EXPOSED.

In the meantime I declare the following:

I will NEVER abandon my Constitutional rights to be free from government interference with regards to my freedom of thought, speech, religion, self-defense, privacy, etc, which includes the right to take care of myself and my family and RESIST ANY ATTEMPT TO SUBVERT THESE INALIENABLE GOD-GIVEN RIGHTS. This is what our government needs to understand. Any law that is contrary to our Constitutionally protected freedom is operating under the color of law and as such, is no law at all.

Got part of it right. This is why Republicans lose elections. constant whining and bitching by “Conservativatives” who spend all their time shooting their own side in the back instead of ever fighting the Left on anything.

The Always Whining choir are the best covert PR agents the Democrat party has on the 'net

Try directing your angst at the opposition for once. This is no RINO you are bitching about.

From her website.

Uhhhh.... My angst is directed against the local R web site, not Crabill. Crabill is fine. It’s her promoters which provoke my angst, by not finding 100 things better to display than the candidate at a yacht and country club.
