Ohio state Sen. Bob Gibbs is in the 2010 race to unseat Democratic Rep. Zack Space.
Gibbs, a Republican, recently filed a statement of candidacy and a statement of organization with the Federal Election Commission to initiate a campaign in Ohio's 18th, a mostly rural and culturally conservative area of east-central and south-central Ohio that includes Zanesville and Chillicothe. Gibbs also has set up a rudimentary campaign Web site.
Gibbs was elected to the Ohio House in 2002 and served three two-year terms, then was elected to the Ohio Senate in 2008 with 59 percent of the vote in a district that includes all of Holmes, Medina and Wayne Counties and part of Ashland County.
Gibbs is from Holmes County, a staunchly Republican area that is the only county in his state Senate district that is in Ohio's 18th. Most of his district is in Ohio's 16th, represented by Democrat John Boccieri.

Ohio ping
The recruiting success of Republicans continues...
Then again, maybe he should take out Boccieri ?
Former US-Attorney Pat Meehan (R) announces his intention to run in PA-6 on Monday.
PA-6 is the seat Sestak is vacating.

Oh please unseat Space! He is our rep here and he is very much unliked for his votes on Cap and Trade and now on getting healthcare out of committee.
Ping.
Anybody have any idea who Patrick Carlisle is?
I dont know about the rest of you, but with career politicians running up record deficits, I would like more businessmen in congress.
I want people in congress that are used to having surpluses on their balance sheets rather than deficits as far as the eye can see.
Thanks for the Ping Dave.
The candidate Republicans most wanted was state Senator Jimmy Stewart, who represents the most Democrat-leaning parts of the district. But Stewart didn’t want to live and work in Washingotn, D.C.
ANYBODY BUT SPACE! I WILL BE DONATING TO WHOMEVER IS HIS OPPONENT!
PA-6 is the district which Bob Gerlach is vacating in order to lose the Gubernatorial primary to Tom Corbett. Sestak’s district is PA-7, which he is vacating in order to lose the Rat primary to Arlen Sphincter and/or the general election to Pat Toomey.
Thing is, state legislators are more likely to be elected than unknown businessmen.
They also have track records whereas you have to take the businessmen’s word for it that he’s a conservative.
