Would he ultimately be running against Dodd?

This bothers me if it’s what you are portraying it to be. If he wants to run against Dodd then do it. If he won’t run unless he gets a million bucks then WTF?

Looks like he has the pieces in place.

I can’t imaginer there are any establishment RINOs in CT.

Their congressional delegation features no members of the GOP ~ isn’t that right?? I think the gov is a pubbie, but that is pretty much it.

This guy shouldn’t have any trouble stepping on a state delegate or or pubbie mayor.

I’d love to see him knock off Dodd.

Dodd is funded by the big banks and special interests, he will spend like $20 million to keep the seat. he needs money to compete

Hey Raybbr,

Hope that you are well.

The guy is only 50k off the pace according to the website. He could pay that like I could pick up a cup of coffee.

So, it'll get done.

In the meantime, I think this is really just a “call to action”. It gets a little PR for him (I never heard of the guy before and I took a few moments to run through his site and I like his economic chops.)

I'd say that he is going to probably foot a good piece of the bill for this campaign. I don't begrudge him for asking regular folks who will ultimately need to vote for him if they are at least willing to check out his site and give $10 or $20 bucks.

A couple of his vids go right for Dodd.

I’d like to see Schiff take that creep down next November.

Dodd is part of everything that is wrong with our elected officials

the problem is Schiff has no name ID in CT so he starts from nothing. he has to get through the primary but i think he can beat Dodd even if Dodd spends a fortune

Are you Peter's shill?

You are missing the point. If he wants to beat Dodd then make the commitment and even I will send money. If he wants the money up front before he even commits then how does that make him better than the average politician.

lol no i’m not a shill... I think he wants to see the level of support before announcing.

he has pledged to give back donations if he doesn’t run. For what its worth I think he will run !

Schiff has intellegent, obvious comments, but I get tired of his doom and gloom, even if it true.

Things work differently in Connecticut. In order to get the nomination, you need support of the RINO dominated republican town committees. There are 169 towns in Connecticut, and they get delegates to the convention based on how many people voted Republican. But these are not chosen democratically, they are chosen by these Republican Town Committees, which are overwhelmingly establishment types, not rock-the-boat types like Schiff.

If more than one candidate gets 15% at the convention, then there's a primary. But while 15% doesn't sound that impressive, Schiff has not worked his way up through the Republican structure. He's an outsider, and these committees will be loathe to support him, for the most part. Getting 15% is not a slam dunk.

No, it's not very democratic, but that's the way the parties operate here. Seriously.

thanks for the intel, Schiff will need to get some support in the State Republican party, i’m sure he can identify some support but like you said if they close ranks it could be difficult.
