Rep. Ed Markey - MA - Recess Constituent Meetings or Forums??

Does anyone know if Ed Markey is planning on meeting with constituents or holding a town hall meeting during the Aug 09 recess?

No he is not having any public forum type meetings. I called his office last week and finally received an answer after speaking with three people. Clueless staff.

Kennedy and Kerry are IN HIDING from the public as well. No public meetings. They will have closed door meeting with special interest groups!!! Some MA Freepers may visit Markey, Kennedy and Kerry's offices on August 22, 2009 at 12:00noon. Not sure how many and the plan.

The closest potential meeting ,aybe in New Hampshire. Obama announced plans to come to New Hampshire, August 11th. I bet Markey, Kerry, and perhaps Kennedy will be there...who knows. Here is the link below about Obama's visit so far.

Is it worth trying to influence our “representative” and our Senators? Might as well talk to a brick wall. It seems to me that the most effective political activism for MA Freepers may be to contibute money to important out-of-state races, like Toomey-Specter.

Being cynical, maybe we should call them and demand that they not make any compromises with the Blue Dog Democrats. They should hold out for a “public option”, new income taxes, and taxes on health insurance. Then the Dem and Republican moderates might feel forced to vote “no”.

If they cancel the townhalls,, then organize and show up at their offices.

This is not about Health Care, it is about control, and has been from the start.

We must take the fight to them in their townhalls, or any other venue we can (mail, email, phone, fax, forums,their office, etc.). Hammer them mercilessly with factual data and do not take no for an answer. These reps need to fear the voters, their constiutents, for their political lives more than they fear Pelosi, Reed, or Obama.

Here is a link to the full House Democrat Health Care Plan in PDF. In Section 1233 E & F, pages 426-433, you find the part about mandatory end-of-life counseling for anyone over 65 years of age. Section 152 Page 50: All healthcare services will be provided without regard to "personal characteristcs" which is not defined within the document but is understood to include immigration status.

Section 224 b Page 125: The Secretary shall design and implement the payment mechanisms and policies under this section in a manner that — (1) seeks to (B) reduce health disparities (including racial, ethnic and other disparities).

A lot more provisions now being documented at that site.

Donwload it, read it, study it, then hammer your reps over it and pass it on to all you know asking them to do the same.
