Mitt Romney, the GOP's Bridge to Oblivion
Gregg Jackson ^ | July 20, 2009 | Gregg Jackson & John Haskins

Posted on 07/20/2009 8:55:50 PM PDT by EddiesDad

Almost no one in politics or the media will admit it in public, but the GOP lost the Presidency in 2008 by alienating the moral conservative base that the elites loathe. Many stayed home or voted third party, rejecting a nominee who was in fundamental aspects a liberal Democrat.

That is why Barry Sotero — a radical socialist with Islamic roots posing as a Christian, groomed for years by Marxist revolutionaries, who hides essential documents of his birth, education and career, who campaigned with illegal funding from overseas interests, who as far as 300 million Americans can honestly tell, was born in a foreign country and (under the plain language of the Supreme Law of the United States, the Constitution) cannot legally be our President, who lacks even the executive experience of a night manager at a self-serve gas station — nevertheless sleeps in the White House. That’s why. Do the homework. Look at the demographics.

On the one side we have PDS, now those who are fighting that are starting to show signs of RDS.

So much for just arguing the merits. We can't be against Romney for his politics--has to be, if he becomes the nominee, the mountains will crumble and the waters will turn to blood.

Which I thought was already the case with the boob in the White House we have now.

I think the dirty little secret is, Obamao had 7 million more votes then GWB did in 2004, McCain had a higher vote total then Reagan did.

McCain would have been close to Kerry in 2004.

Whatever it is “we” did, IMO it would not have mattered, 2008 was a Dhimmi tidal wave.

I agree. I could feel it, and I bet most anyone could, if they stopped and considered what they KNEW as opposed to what they FELT. Sort of like Dole vs. Clinton--I don't think at any time I sensed Dole was going to win.

Yes, soooo boring. We just soooo need to fall in line behind the Socialist RINO False Messiah. We all need to get down our knees and worship the good-haired “ONE.” He’s just so better than us, so awesome, so wonderful. If only I can just touch his garment, why we’ll have world peace and sing Kumbaya all together.

Well, I had hoped that Gov Palin would have drawn more to the McCain/Palin ticket but the African American turnout was massive, the non African American turnout in several key states was underwhelming.

That led to Dhimmis sweeping elections.

As for Mitt R, I “liked” him, I don’t believe he has the charisma to be elected President though, along with Fred Thompson, there is just no..well...connection with either of those two.

I had thought when Fred threw his hat into the ring he would hop to the head of the field, and it just never happened ditto Mitt R.

..This is music to the jaded ears of GOP’s limousine-chasing lawyers, pundits and other hot shots who did the hard-selling for former Massachusetts’ Governor Willard Mitt Romney in ‘08. Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Tony Perkins, Jay Sekulow, Hugh Hewitt, James Bopp and Bill Bennett continue to peddle the bizarre claim that Romney is our man for 2012....

CAN THIS BE TRUE? Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Tony Perkins?... Pitching for flip-floper?... Please someone tell me this is NOT TRUE!

What a bizarre article! No decent human being can stomach it. Mitt Romney and his wonderful family do not deserve to be harassed in this manner.

Romney needs to start a truth squad of his own to defend himself and his family against this filth and trash.

“the GOP lost the Presidency in 2008 by alienating the moral conservative base that the elites loathe.”
******
The GOP also lost a nice chunk of economic conservatives who the elites tossed over the side in the spirit of “bipartisanship.” Faced with the choice of two socialists, some economic conservatives chose neither. (Note: Before I get flamed, I held my nose and voted for McCain as the lesser of two evils).

Agree all the way--Fred's sputtering non-takeoff kinda took any enthusiasm out of me.

There are things I like about Palin, but I really don't understand the feverish Obama-level worship of her. I know that alone makes me a "hater" around here, but I don't hate her. I just don't think she has what it will take to win in 2012. I sure don't think Romney has it, either.

Still keeping an open mind on Romney. Without going along with some liberal policies, he’d never have been elected anything in Mass. All Romney haters and their articles can’t change that fact, and they can’t change the fact the Clinton and Gore were pro-life and pro-second amendment when running for office in Arkansas and Tennessee.

That’s common. Think I’ll just listen to Romney when it matters and decide whether he’d govern as a conservative, or not.

“Free Republic is a pro-life and liberty conservative site and there’s no way we’re going to support [Slick Willard] a liberal RINO for president. If you wish to support a PARTY RINO for political expediency rather than God and country, you’ll be welcome to do it somewhere else.” — Jim Robinson

“And the media, as usual, is panting hard for the most liberal Republican they can find in the primary race. Namely, Governor Slick Willard Romney.

Hey, Romney’s ok. IF you’re one of those liberal/moderate RINO types that loves big government forcing big government “solutions” for health care, etc, down your throat. AND if you can morally ignore his liberal record in Massachusetts that left the state saddled with a bankrupting state run health care system, taxpayer funded abortions, gay marriage, gun control, sanctuary cities, intrusion and government coercion into private matters, etc, etc, etc, AND you’ve convinced yourself that it wasn’t Slick’s fault. The liberals made him do it, etc. They don’t call him Kennedy’s best friend for nothing, y’know.” — Jim Robinson

I think what we need in 2012 is an adult who can be serious about the issues without being boring and ponderous, but magnetic. That candidate can look at Obama and say (without words) "Your childish emotion-based stuff has really damaged this country. You must step aside and let the adults take over."

I look at some of the front runners as of now and have to stifle a yawn.

Otherwise you’re just in denial about Slick Willard.

Your opinion and nothing more. Some of you can't accept the fact that candidates often change significantly when moving from state to national campaigns. Many have in the past, and many will in the future. Voters just have to use judgment as to what changes are legitimate, and how a candidate would govern in national office as opposed to state office.

Alright, I am going to be honest here. Shallow but honest. The biggest problem I have with him is his name. “Mitt” sounds like some snooty stuck up rich frat kid, like Chatsworth Osbourne III or something.

Next is his looks. He just comes across as a guy who shaves his body hair everywhere except his head. Too neat. Too well dressed. I just get weird vibes off him.

Now maybe if he changed his name to Mike or Bob or something, and spilt some ketchup on his self.

Romney’s already bought out the formerly grand OLD party.

The only question left is whether it will stay bought.

Odds are heavily on the side of it staying bought, because their party is so incredibly bereft of leaders who are right and real, and the fact that the hacks demonize anyone who is.

We need a candidate who is exciting. For all of BHO’s enormous faults, hundreds of them, he excited the Democratic base and the majority of Americans who are usually apolitical. Many of them still swoon when he speaks. Go figure.

Romney will never be that person for the Republicans. I think he’d make a fantstic Vice President, but I don’t see anything exciting or charismatic about him in the least. Maybe it’s not fair, but it’s true, and I don’t think matching him with a younger, more charismatic VP would do the trick, either. He’d probably make a very good President, just not sure he could be elected.

Listen, kid, I’ve known him 15 years, I was in MA during the end of his first campaign for the Senate (which was really just a prelude to his running for President, which he hoped to receive the GOP nomination for in ‘96 for a “reward” for beating Ted Kennedy). The guy is a world-class fraud and con-artist. He lies at such a rate as to make Bubba blush with embarrassment.
