The challenges to conservative dogma have sparked the candidacies of at least four primary opponents. One of them is businessman Andrew Smart, owner of the popular Greenville-based Dukes Sandwich Shop chain, who has the ability to self-finance a race.
Another announced candidate is Christina Jeffrey, a college professor who made headlines in 1995 when Newt Gingrich hired her as the House historian and fired her days later over past controversial comments. She later ran for Gingrichs old House seat in Georgia, losing badly in the primary to now-Sen. Johnny Isakson.
Two other little-known candidates Jim Lee and Rex Mahler have declared theyre running, as well.
Perhaps the most serious threat to Inglis comes from state Sen. David Thomas, who hasnt announced his plans yet. Thomas, who says hes a close friend of Inglis, has represented Greenville County in the Senate for the past 25 years and has strong name recognition in the district.

I hope that Thomas runs. If not Thomas, than someone else. Bob Inglis supports “comprehensive” immigration reform and the Wall Street bailout.
Greenville and Spartanburg are strongly conservative, patriotic areas where there is no need to appeal to liberal voters. I say we go full throttle right in this case.
Purging the RINOs is the GOP’s only chance. We get another Juan McCain and I’m bolting because the party will officially be ‘Rat Light.
Yeah, Inglis has got to go. So does Walter Jones in NC. Mike Rogers in AL who moved right to the liberal borderline, ought to be primaried as well. Duncan in TN (a paleo-con) and newbie Phil “Let’s Make Kissy Face With The Dems” Roe in TN-1 (who won over stellar ‘06 freshman incumbent David Davis because Dems flooded the GOP primary) need to be retired as well. Probably ought to come up with a whole list of names of people that need the boot on the GOP side (nevermind the entirety of the Dem side).
Inglis was first elected to Congress in 1992 on term limits. He kept his term limit promise of 6 years in the House. He later challenged Hollis for the Senate in 1998 and lost. When DeMint ran for Senate, Inglis ran for DeMint’s house seat. Inglis said term limits was a mistake. He called term limits, unilateral disarming of a district. Inglis is addicted to the perks of DC.
I would support primary challengers to a goodly % of Republicans.
Especially those in safe seats. I’m sick of the trolls who are talking up every subpar incumbent like Senator Bennett. Incumbents aren’t entitled to be there forever.

Davis should run again.
Yongin:”Inglis said term limits was a mistake. He called term limits, unilateral disarming of a district. “
Talking about pork, oh I mean “clout”. Blech.
