The Best 143 Days of my Life

In an attempt to further demonize the Republican party for its logic and practicality, Democrats are livid over the Republicans rejecting their bill to initiate a higher gas tax.

The gas tax that dems are so in love with would cut into the profits of the 5 major oil producers in the US: Shell, Chevron, Exxon, BP America, and ConocoPhilips Oil Co. Sen. Charles Schumer (D- N.Y.) griped that: "We are hurting as a country. We're hurting individually as Americans ... and the other side says, 'Do nothing. Don't even debate the issue..."

The truth of the matter is Republicans saw the flaws in the legislation (much like they did with the Minimum Wage raise) and pointed it out to the Demos. Republicans stood up and pointed out the obvious--- the only thing this tax hike would do was push our American oil companies towards producing less oil due to the high tax hike and further entrench our dependency on foreign oil supplies (OPEC).

Additionally, the tax would do absolutely nothing to lower the current price of gasoline.

Long time cheerleader of the gas tax hike Senator Obama was not on the Senate floor for the vote or lack of debate. This seems odd to me. Considering how much Senator Obama preaches the need for the tax hike and alternative types of fuel, he didn't see the issue as important as oh say, his political campaign for Presidency? The man was in Congress for 143 days prior to starting his bid for the Oval Office and he expects us to believe he's anywhere near qualified to help the American people when he doesn't even show up for the job he was elected to do in the first place...

“...and the other side says, ‘Do nothing. Don’t even debate the issue...”

Actually, the other side did say quite a bit. For one, they said suspend the gas tax for while. The Dark Side said no. It won’t be enough. So let’s raise the tax instead, which is the effect of levying the windfall profits tax.

The other side said drill. the Dark Side said no.

The other side said...

You get the point.

Schumer. Poster boy for perpetual poverty.
