Politically, it's smart for McQueeg to nominate a conservative woman as VP. The field, though, is limited to the point of non-availability. Condi -- not particularly conservative, she -- is far too smart to want the office. Sarah Palin would be nearly ideal, but has a newborn with Down's syndrome; she won't take the offer. However, as noted, it is smart for McQueeg to find a conservative woman. Therefore, slack-jawed dummy that he is, he won't do this and will pick some Rockefeller Republican.
This election would be an absolute cakewalk for the 'Pubbies -- Osamabama is the most beatable major party candidate in decades, perhaps forever -- but for the ineffable stupidity of the candidate and his 'wing' of the party. They are eminently capable of, and well on the road to, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
