Is Rasmussen becoming the most incapable pollster next to American Research? Maybe. Just this morning, Rasmussen released a poll showing Texas GOP Senator John Cornyn ahead of his Democrat challenger by only 3 points. Possible? Sure. Likely? Not.
Rasmussen made a similar mistake just last month in the Louisiana Senate race between incumbent Mary Landrieu and GOP State Treasurer John Kennedy. On April 14, Southern Media and Opinion Research correctly found Landrieu leading Kennedy by 12 points. That same morning Rasmussen and friends reported that Landrieu had a lead of 55 to 39. But on April 20, the Times Picayune reported the Rasmussen numbers were inaccurate:

Traditonal pollsters and those who regularly use their data are skeptical of Rasmussen’s methods, so he gets dismissed by the political professionals.
However, declaring one poll to be correct and the other to be incorrect without a real vote to demonstrate actual results is flawed logic. Use polls to identify trends and show movement - don’t use a poll taken in April to predict the results of an election in November.
Cornyn is our conservative senator and will win hands down.
Dems won’t be within 15 points of Cornyn !!
Who’s the Dim(s) running against him?
Please don’t tell me it’s Lesley, the cross-dressing homeless dude from 6th ST. in Austin??
This has not been a good year for pollsters. They are routinely missing elections by five to eight points. And in New Hampshire and Iowa couldn’t even pick the winner correctly.
Not runnng this year. On Obama’s advisory committee.
Richard J. (Rick) Noriega
I think I hear Bertrand Russell spinning in his grave after reading those children.
Dems wont be within 15 points of Cornyn !!
Cornyn reported having in the bank almost $8.7 million at the end of March; Noriega had $329,293.
Not a problem. We’ll just link him to Manuel!
Sweet! Wonder if he’s in the lemo sippin on gin an’ juice?
LAAAAIIIIDDD BACK!
