In the early 1990s my auto insurance lapsed (I was broke, I missed a payment) and I got nabbed for a minor infraction on my college campus and they saw my insurance situation so I had to go to court. That's where I learned these two things:
I know. Horrible! I bet the bar is scared to death right now. They know this is going to come back on them. And that woman, 66 years old and THIS is what she’s going to be known for. I’m interested to see if she’s a repeat offender or not.
The drinking at the bar down the street is rumor. I did not hear the sheriff say that.
So far, the drinking at the bar down the road accusation is local gossip.
Back when I frequented the bars and dicos (74-78) I went to meet girls: dance and chat, maybe line up a date (I was real picky). If everybody was like me those places would have had to charge at least $10 a head to enter, because I would sometimes not buy anything to drink.
I was usually driving myself there and back, and just wasn’t interested in liquor. A beer was rarely finished, often still over half full after a couple hours there. Sometimes I simply bought an ice tea.
I have no clue what it’s like to be UTI of alcohol, and am not feeling like I’m missing out.
Nearly every adult has known (deceased), or knows (alive), a victim of drunk driving. Alcohol related deaths are so preventable. But people ignore the deadly risk.
My dad used to tell me: “You don’t have to give a habit that you don’t start”. Which was his same remark concerning smokes.

older people have ready made excuses for accidents....it was a "medical" issue....a guy crossed a big median and swerved and was going in the wrong direction and hit a family head on...5 kids killed...guy got off due to a "coughing fit" supposedly...

Chidester was arraigned this morning (April 23, 2024) before District Court Judge Christian Horkey. Judge Horkey set bond at $1,500,000,000 cash or surety with conditions which include GPS and alcohol tether in the event she is able to post. bond.
