FWIW, I suspect a lot of it is more about ignorance.

For instance, fwdude, I take it no ladies in the family have ever experienced ovarian issues, uterine issues...?

Or maybe, fwdude, thru have, but you don’t think they can be that bad.

I can understand a bit of that since I don’t have a prostate and I can’t imagine what BPH feels like.

But there are billions of people on the planet.

And we’re not all cloned.

A plethora of safe and effective treatments, along with informed consent, will be a Godsend for many.

Just something you might want to keep in mind, fwdude. And BTW, I hope you’re blessed with a co-operative prostate. Those puppies make me very glad I’m a girl. :-)

If there's no fertilization, there's no life to kill.

And therein lies the problem. Artificial contraception has a higher than advertised failure rate, and is accompanied by an anti-human attitude. Abortion is generally the backstop for failed artificial contraception.

Fertility is natural, a properly functioning reproductive system is not in need of "medicine" or "protection".

Male fertility is not a poison, but artificial contraception treats it as a poison.

Female fertility is not a disease, but artificial contraception treats it as a disease.

A couple monitoring the wife's fertility cycle is treating her fertility as a natural part of life, not as a disease to be treated.

But you already knew all that ...

We're not talking about legitimate medical conditions which require MEDICATION to treat, now are we?

Even so, I'm willing to bet that the "medical" angle is often used as cover for use of hormonal birth control. I'm also willing to bet that a lot of the conditions you mention stem from prior sexual dalliances or birth control methods which possibly caused the conditions you're now trying to treat.

Not all, but some.

Sexual sin has a lot of downstream consequences.

And how did our predecessors of a couple of centuries ago handle these?

It’s still birth control.

And as such should be condemned as other forms are.

If preventing the conception is the crime, is murder, then it matters little how it is done.

Catholicism condemns Onan for his actions in avoiding impregnating his sister-in-law to raised up children to carry on his brother’s name. NFP is no different.

The goal of NFP is to enjoy sex without the *risk* of pregnancy, something die hard Catholics condemn as immoral and the cause of the collapse of western civilization.

Clearly many Catholics think that enjoying sex for the sake of it is wrong.

Here’s a clue. GOD created it and made it pleasurable. Based on the result of the Fall, and Eve’s greatly increased conception, it’s no stretch to conclude that God intended married couples to enjoy that kind of intimacy just because.

We had slavery two hundred years ago.

Women were chattel.

Maternal and infant mortality was a heckuva lot higher than it is today.

I don’t think you want to go there, dude.

It’s still birth control.

Use of bad terminology renders intelligent discussion impossible.

Artificial contraception is everything I said it is, and is wrong because of that.

Monitored fertility is everything I said it is, and is normal and natural because of it.

That which is condemned is artificial contraception because it rejects God's plan rather than working with it.

But you already knew that.

Women were chattel.

Ah, the time-worn leftist mantra.

With fewer women on the pill, more women will become mothers, and some of them will drop out of the workforce and discover fulfillment and happiness as wives and homemakers.

WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. All this means is that more women will let Chad, Tyrone, and randos go raw dog and skeet in them. They will vote more democrat, taking hard earned resources from productive people.

Every Christian denomination was against birth control until 1930.

Newspapers are relics. The 18 to 40 crowd either has no idea what they are or could care less.
