They claimed that they mistook the hose nozzle for a gun and fired at Zerby, killing him, and did not make any verbal warnings or commands. This is one of the few police shootings I’ve seen where the officer tried to flee. I think 90% of cops would have shot before the kid made it through the door. This cop was running away, and legitimately fearing for his life. Clearly he did not want to shoot.

Even though this was a justified shooting, I suspect the family will win big in the ghetto lottery. Just another case of cops shooting a black boy.

It was too late at that point. The family should had their kid institutionalized until he’s heavily medicated. If that’s not possible, then maybe he’ll have to stay at the institution for life. That’s what we used to do in the old days.

I'll take my odds. I also put my personal safety and situational awareness at point in everything I do. So do my children, now 20 somethings, 30 somethings, and close to 40 something.

Police are there to fill out paperwork and pump testosterone and adrenaline into chaotic situations.

Avoid those situations.
