That's a shame. I hear they're good eatin', though. Tastes kinda like spotted owl. What's the difference between 'old' groundhog and 'aged' groundhog?

This is not the first time a groundhog has died on Groundhog Day. One year in Pennsylvania Punxsutawney Phil did not come out of his hutch. Upon closer inspection it was found that Punxsutawney Phil had passed away before the customary prediction ceremony.
I thought that was kind of humorous when it happened.
Punxsutawney Phil was almost immediately replaced by a concurrent Punxsutawney Phil and probably several others over the years.

A Kentucky groundhog died on Groundhog Day โ just days after predicting an early spring.I thought the weather prediction was supposed to take place on Groundhog Day. That's the whole point (such as it is) of a specific day being Groundhog Day at all.

Yes he probably checked out because no need or purpose to live.
The whole world is woke, even KY, and so, why should he wake up and tell everyone Spring is coming.

There’s a ground hog in my backyard they can have. Gotta trap him first, but free.

Very suspicious. Did he conspire with climate activists before he put out his report?? Was he about to turn into a “People’s Groundhog”, i.e., a whistle blower??

I had trouble with accuracy at 300 yards with anything over 45 grains. Lovely varmint gun.

They banned eating groundhogs in Mongolia after a couple died of plague from eating one. Pit barbecued groundhog was (and probably still is) a very popular dish in Mongolia.
