Thought they were only named after states.

The Ohio-class subs were. The Los Angeles-class were named after cities.

The Ohio predecessors were the Benjamin Franklin-class and Lafayette-class. The Los Angeles-class predecessors were traditionally named after marine animals.

It does look like the Columbia-class will go back to state names - the Wisconsin is next in line.

the Navy is working to make sure that the Columbia class stays on track throughout the production process. The sea
service is working to accelerate the remaining construction work..

Impossible..

With the advent of DEI and ESG, these programs and their timetables are doomed.
