Perhaps. More often I’ve seen grownups, married with kids, mad at mom and dad for not paying for them to go to Disney, but then a house or new car, or otherwise be entitled.

No perhaps about it.

Things like this happen far more often than you want to believe.

You can believe it is just about petty things if it soothes your feelings but the things some family members do to each other is down right horrifying.

If a mother will blame her child for being raped by her current bed warmer then she will do a bunch of other stuff to the child without blinking an eye.

Oh I have examples of that too. Taken money out the child’s checking account, cashed checks belonging to the child, used the child’s credit card without permission, used the child’s social security number/name to get credit and never pay it off. I have seen it all.

There is a difference between once their dead their saints and making allegations against a dead person.

You assume the daughter is not just lying because she is a spoiled brat.

And no, I am not “pretending” about anything. Unlike you, I don’t know think I know the truth. I do, however, know how adults harmed by parents act, and how liars act who blame their bad choices on their parents.

And this reeks of the second.

How on earth would finances be so tied that the parent would have the child’s credit card? Or access to checks?

It’s all possible, I suppose. But this sounds like a spoiled brat who didn’t get to go to Disney.

"Sounds like she’s probably right that the world is better place without her."

she has a point though...it is maddening for people to like or love or think the best of someone that YOU know is actually a shallow, phony, petty, self centered person that did little or nothing for others, other than something that gets them something else.....don’t ask me how I know this..

I guess I did. But you don’t have a clue who I’m talking about.

I officed with another attorney who was routinely representing a third attorney’s wife who would apply for credit in her adult kids’ socials, steal their credit/debit cards out of their my wallets (the adult ones that still lived at home), find and steal cash that her husband had hidden in the house, (he was too under her spell to realize he should never leave cash in the house—clients frequently paid him in cash). She would buy a peloton or other expensive crap and not pay it off, she ruined their and their children’s credit. This attorney friend of mine got cancer and while he was in treatment, his wife charged $40,000 worth of purses and hid the bills. He found them later after he was sued for the outstanding balances plus attorney fees, and my attorney friend number 1 negotiated a settlement with my attorney friend number 2 to settle for $10,000. This charge was in the name of one of their sons. I hope me putting this on here doesn’t give anybody any ideas. Protect your social security numbers. Don’t send them online in emails or leave them lying around. Redact them in documents. Don’t match them up with your names.

Show respect for ourselves if not for the departed. Some people do not deserve respect even in their obituary. Why sugar coat things?

Show respect for ourselves is the point of what I wrote.

Anyway, it's Christmas and I don't want to talk about this anymore. Let the dead bury the dead.

My daughter’s friend’s mother took her daughter’s money that she earned working. Her house was filthy, the daughter slept on a mattress on the floor, the mom did drugs, and was verbally disrespectful to her. The girl was shy, well mannered, and a good student. I wanted to call DHS to get her out of there, but she didn’t want me to. She was in high school at the time. She ended up going to live with another friend her junior year. The fact that she earned money and her mother would take it, that is financial abuse.
