That's the daughter's side of the story.
The mother might have had a different version.

The sexual abuse probably wasn’t known outside the family and took this woman’s experience to another level from most people’s.

"No service". Always wondered.Don't bother wondering! In 95% of all cases, it was the expressed wish of the Deceased that no services be held.
In the other 5% of the cases, it might be a combination of
1) No money available for services;
2) The Bereaved don't want strangers, golf buddies, etc. showing up at the service and peppering them with questions ("So, where's the banquet table?" "Was it AIDS?" "Say, what about those golf clubs Freddie has in the garage? If no one else wants them..."). They may be holding a private (family, only) memorial amongst themselves, but see no need to advertise that fact;
3) The next of kin simply don't want or see the need for services.
4) Religious reasons (the Deceased belonged to some crackpot religion and may even have requested that the "Grand Poobah" himself officiate; the Bereaved would rather avoid that entire issue).

That’s what narcissists tend to do - they churn thru people. There’s a term for it, it’s called: narcissistic supply ... they are always looking for new people to befriend and abuse because most people eventually run away once they realize how they are. It’s a churn.That has some application to politics. Kamala Harris. Amy Klobuchar. Sheila Jackson Lee. Some politicians have had high turnover rates for employees. Trump did too, though there were other reasons for that.

He said, “I did help you. You don’t know what would have happened if I hadn’t.”Lucky you!
There are numerous cases where the worst possible outcome occurred. Where the "unthinkable" did happen.
But I guess that you were "special."

Bull Cheese. She us a mean bitter woman who better learn the power of love and forgiveness before her hatred consumes her.

I worked with a lady that passed away before she could retire & her mother had survived her. The mother penned an obituary that blamed the company and the president for her early death. Couldn’t believe the newspaper allowed it and the president was a nice person.

Yes, some horrible things have happened to the innocent. When we finally realize that eternity is more real and more important than the vapor that this life we have on earth is, we will have peace, if we will just trust the Lord.

The statement "My childhood would have been even worse if there had been no divine intercession" is unfalsifiable.
The statement "Even a hideous life of constant abuse, torture, and injustice at the hands of true monsters can be compensated for by an eternity in a pleasant Hereafter" is the epitome of cynicism.

The mother might have had a different version.
Even if the mother was every bit the sociopath that the daughter accused her of being, I guarantee that the mother had a different version. That's how sociopaths are.

An obituary isn’t the place for this.
That may be true, but imagine that the mother was an evil sociopath who damaged her daughter for life, and that daughter then has to see people write obituaries for her mother that say what a wonderful person she was (or, for that matter, has had to listen to others say such misguidedly nice things about her mother all her life). The temptation to refute that would be huge.

At 75 posts and climbing, it seems you've touched a nerve!
I fall back on
Ephesians 6:1-3. And the old adage, "If you don't have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself".
As a believer, I will follow my own advice.

If her mother did do those things and then played the martyr she deserved it.
I would not do it but then my mom is a normal person.

How does a parent “financially abuse” an adult child? Take their stuff and sell it. Take money from their wallet. Steal their identity and use it to take out loans.
Lots of ways.
And the police and prosecutors quite often will do nothing about it.
They will tell you that you should "work it out" with a stupid smile on their face like stealing from someone and trashing their credit is the same as not putting dirty dishes in the sink.
