Jonestown gave Kool-Aid , a bad name for the poison he put in it, but at least kids didn't die "suddenly" after drinking untainted Kool-Aid.I thought Jones used Flavor-Aid?

WinCo also sells Crystal Lite Lemonade (among other flavors), sugar-free and I drink it all the time. $3.00/6 packetbox = 3 gallons. Works out to $1.00/gallon.

Thanks.
There are rules.
Same with Møøse stories, and MoDo columns and KZJ pics.

The sad thing is, it wasn’t Kool Aid that was used at Jonestown, it was some cheap knock off brand. But of course now we all have the phrase “drank the Kool Aid”.

Thank you kindly. I will certainly look for that Dole! I don’t remember seeing it. The Lipton is nothing short of gross.
To: Nik Naym
Funny Face was another. "Jolly Ollie Orange" anyone?
But don't call Tang a knock-off. It went to the moon.

Jim Jones used "Flavor-Aid" made by Jel Sert company. Which tastes like bug juice anyway. The cyanide was probably a flavor enhancer.
Kool-Aid, which was not available in South America at that time, is made by the Kraft Corporation.

Add carbonation and different flavoring and you’ve got coke or pepsi

I drank my share of that when I was kid. Then I grew up some and graduated to sweet tea.
My mother used to pour the lime Kool-Aid into ice cube trays and put a toothpick in each one to make popsicles. Some quick refreshment.

Played high school football in a Mississippi River city in mid 50’s. Two practices a day starting in August. Hotter and humid as hell. Would polish off at lest a quart of kool aid in between practices.

This is where the “he drank the kool-aid” reference came from.

The cyanide was probably a flavor enhancer. LOL
You’re right about the “Flavor-Aid, it’s been a long time and those details slip. The comment still stands though.

I was in South America about that time and I remember being confused hearing people talk about Kool-Aid because Flavor-Aid was all we had in the country right next door.
Wasn't until years later I found out I remembered right. Dang that stuff was nasty. I think it had some kind of artificial sweetener in it.

I used to drink Crystal Light when it first came out in the ‘80s. For the church, full sugar is expected. Minute Maid costs more and uses HFCS, so I go with Dole. 4C powder is less expensive, but we need the convenience of the big bottles when you serve 100+ people in under 15 minutes.
The Simply Lemonade is a good deal at Winco, but the store is too far out of my way to go regularly.
