Yep...I’m a blues guy myself but love classic rock.

The name of the site is smoothradio so I assume the choice leans towards the bland easy listening stuff.

The list isn’t bad it’s the rankings that stink.

I didn’t look at the list, but I doubt RUSH made it. They had 5 platinum and two gold albums during the 80’s. The album Moving Pictures was probably their most popular and more mainstream, including the song “Tom Sawyer”.

It is not one of my top songs from them - but here is a live version from the 1981:

There weren’t 100 great songs done in the 80’S.

Gonna speak up for Georgia bands. No Black Crowes? Was there any REM in there? Heck, Guadalcanal Diary had better songs than the majority the songs on the list.

Lots of great music, and although many rue the current musical output, there is still a lot more at hand and on the horizon.

The gatekeepers, though, are not as powerful as they once were. The experience of hearing a good, new song is highly subjective like a good book or a good joke.

I have often been enlightened by others when introduced to new music. I have also been pleasantly surprised at how age tempers opinion. Songs I used to hate, like foods I used to hate, have gained an appeal I never would have anticipated.

Weather Report and Steely Dan. Jazz and blues. Classical. A little Van Halen. The palette is wide, and will always be so. A gift from Above.

Loved REM, before Michael Stipe got all political.

Driver 8, Don’t Go Back To Rockville, are my favorites.

They included Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love”, but totally left off his, “Simply Irresistible”, which was a much better song/video.

For those who have forgotten it, here it is:

Yes! Yes! My favorite Dolby song. Blinded Me With Science is in the bottom half of my favorite songs on that album. One Of Our Submarines is a close second.

This is fun! My picks as a 20-something back then, not in any particular order:

Van Halen - ‘Jump’

Bruce Hornsby and the Range - ‘The Way It Is’

Heart - ‘Alone’ (’Magic Man’ is better; I wore out their debut album)

Whitesnake - ‘Here I Go Again’

Rufus & Chaka Khan - ‘Ain’t Nobody’

Robert Palmer - ‘Addicted to Love’

Soul II Soul - ‘Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)’

Mike and the Mechanics - ‘The Living Years’ (ANYTHING Genesis-related is always GOLD to me)

Soft Cell - ‘Tainted Love’

Duran Duran - ‘Rio’

Roxy Music - ‘More than This’

Wham! - ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’

U2 - ‘With or Without You’

Peter Gabriel - ‘Sledgehammer’ (Again, Genesis!)

Guns N Roses - ‘Sweet Child o’ Mine’

Fleetwood Mac - ‘Everywhere’

Simple Minds - ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’

Pet Shop Boys - ‘West End Girls’

David Bowie - ‘Let’s Dance’

A-Ha - ‘Take on Me’ (Best video ever - EVER!)

Just funny.
