Well now you won’t get coverage a lot faster with 5.5G.

Sounds like you’re talking about 5Ghz WiFi, a totally different thing from 5G phone service.

Amen.
BS. Where are they getting the "chips"?
Who's building, installing, and testing the new equipment?

From TFA:
Compared to conventional 5G, 5.5G represents a tenfold improvement in performance across the board. This means that 5.5G networks will be able to provide ubiquitous 10 Gbps downlink and 1 Gbps uplink speeds
while supporting 100 billion IoT connections – compared to just 10 billion with 5G.
In addition, 5.5G is expected to deliver latency and positioning accuracy that are a fraction of the current 5G standard
as well as significant reductions in overall network power consumption.”
And they're only calling it "5.5G" ??? From the above hyperbolic blather, it ought to be called "55G".
What a pile of sales/marketing hooey. Somebody's got good drugs, that's all I can say.
