NATO made sense when it was a US UK partnership to dominate Western Europe.
The UK is too weak to be much of a partner. Now they are out of the EU so then have no influence there.
Time to get out.
Obviously these idiots don’t understand The Art Of The Deal.
The point was to get the other NATO countries to pony up more for their defense.
Why do I think that before the dissolution of the USSR, Rolling Stone would have been in favor of disbanding NATO?
N.A.T.O. No Action Talk Only.
How about we protect the southern border first.
I don’t think pulling out of NATO would be a bad thing. It’s like the U.N. A useless Cold War dinosaur.
Why would anyone take Rolling Stone seriously?
NATO should have dissolved right after the Warsaw Pact and should be eliminated now. And never mind what Trump is up to (or not).
More lies. Trump never said he wanted to leave NATO. He just pointed out correctly that freeloading by European states was in fact the greatest threat to NATO and that Americans would not be willing to shoulder the lion’s share of the defense burden forever.

NATO's budget for 2023 is about 1,264 trillion USD. LeMonde reports Russia's military budget is about 63 billion Euros.
As reported, "the Department of Defense (DOD) had $1.80 trillion distributed among its 6 sub-components." We're number one! In spending.
As Stoltenberg advises "green and strong."
Green and strong and massively in debt with a growing deficit too. Yeah! Number one!
Time for America first. Because we're only first under Biden (Obama administration's 3rd term) in terms of going bankrupt.
I'm already voting for Trump, you don't need to give me another reason.
This is the primary reason they won’t allow Trump back in there. The deep state’s mission is to prevent Eurasian economic integration. And they don’t want Euro countries to become dependent on cheap Russian gas & oil. In order to achieve this the US will continue with it’s aggressive foreign policy against Russia and China trying to put a wedge between then and the West. But how long will the Euro countries go along with this as their economies go into the toilet? Their economies aren’t globally competitive without cheap oil and gas.
I wish Trump had pulled out of NATO when he first spoke about it.
NATO has become more of a danger to national security than a benefit to it.
Well yeah. NATO is like Mike Tyson and a bunch of 3rd graders in a defensive alliance. Tyson gets to call the shots.
Anyway, NATO is a welfare program for the defense industry and European bureaucrats. Thousands of them work at their golden fleece HQ center.
It’s a lame bunch of ingrates, and an aggressive expansionist entity that operates outside all legal norms, having moved into the “rules based order” era (because they cannot say “international law” while brazenly violating it by launching wars with zero UN authority).
Go Trump!
I think President Trump’s argument is simple, and has been said for a long time. Basically, since NATO, European nations have used their defense spending on socialist welfare schemes, relying on the US to defend them.
If they have to build and pay for their own defense, these welfare schemes will have to go out the window.
How many dollars has NATO contributed to Ukraine?
So wanting Europe to defend itself and pay for it themselves is a bad thing?
I’d not pull out of NATO but I’d use the possibility to pressure Germany and France in particular to hugely up their contributions to NATO and as part of NATO, not as part of soemthing else. I would also demand the European partners in NATO support (a) ousting Turkey from NATO and (b) moving all U.S. military assets in Turkey to Greece.
What I would pull out of unequivocably is the U.N. and I would go even further to ending U.S. diplomatic relations with democracies that do not do the same.
Pulling out of NATO is not a good idea. Using the threat to pull out of NATO to get Europeans to defend themselves is a good idea. Now that Sweden & Finland have been added to NATO, that should be easier to do.
We need to be out of NATO and the UN.
