While their name did include the word “socialist”, their policies and treatment of left-wing opponents show they were not socialists.
Many have claimed that the Nazi party were socialists, due to their full name—the National Socialist German Workers’ Party.
This argument has been used to attack socialism through association with Nazi policies. It has also led to confusion, as Nazism is normally associated with fascism and far-right-wing views.
The issue of whether the Nazis were socialists isn’t a straightforward one, due to how the Nazi party developed and grew its base of support. But the consensus among historians is that the Nazis, and Hitler in particular, were not socialists in any meaningful sense.
Historians have regularly disavowed claims that Hitler adhered to socialist ideology. Historian Richard Evans wrote of the Nazis’ incorporation of socialist into their name in 1920, “Despite the change of name, however, it would be wrong to see Nazism as a form of, or an outgrowth from, socialism….Nazism was in some ways an extreme counter-ideology to socialism”. Or as simply put by historian and Hitler expert Ian Kershaw, “Hitler was never a socialist.”

Hitler used Christianity to manipulate those who followed it.
He did the same with the socialists while he demonized the communists and Jews.
He was a narcissist and used people’s attachment to ideology to manipulate them.

You need to understand narcissists. They don’t belong to groups, they have their own identity.
They associate with groups by presenting a facade of themselves to manipulate the groups.
Hitler created a new national group identity around the group pride of the Nazis. Neither left or right, but focused on him as leader. If you look at trends in history and understand social psychology, you can see that USA is entering a similar pattern.
No, hatred of Jews was at the center of everything he did. He admitted it right before he killed himself.
In the US, maybe. In other parts of the world where theology rules, like Iran and parts of Africa which are Muslim, you find what would be considered right-wing authoritarianism.

I read and studied Hitler extensively.
His grandmother, Maria Anna Schicklgruber was a cleaning lady for a Jewish family and got pregnant out of wedlock. They had two sons and it was assumed that one of them was the father as the family paid paternity.
When his grandmother got married, she gave Hitler’s father, Alois, to another family to raise and they changed his name to theirs. Himmler or something like that. (As I get older the memory does not work as well as it used to.)
Hitler got history rewritten so it appeared the adopted family was the source of his grandfather.
It appears his grandfather was Jewish.
In 1906 Hitler was a young post card painter in Vienna. He joined the Christian Socialists Union, a Jew hating organization run by the mayor of Vienna.
The Jews ran all the gambling and prostitution in the city so they were blamed for the city’s trouble.
Thus Hitler hated the Jews his entire life.
But the clincher was when Hitler borrowed all the money from the Jewish banks and couldn’t pay it back, so he nationalized them. Demonizing them justified taking over their banks.

Hitler was an absolute nationalist. He believed in Germany and the German people, good for him. He did go off the rails with some religious beliefs and an Absolut belief in the German people being and bringing about a final solution. Thus lead to the murder of Jews and all of his political opponents that made up half of his camps, for disagreeing with him religiously and politically. Disagreement leads to worker camps, starvation and extermination. How fun!
