Actually, it was Come Monday, Volcano and Cheeseburger in Paradise that also lit the torch. He went from being a beach bum storyteller to Party Rock to Yacht Rock. I first heard him 1976 when a guy on my freshman floor played him a lot. Then he had a concert on campus that year. The college radio station wasn’t allowed to play Come Monday so they played Woman Gone Crazy on Carolina Street instead to promote the concert.
He made the fatal mistake of using timely references in some of his songs. They are great at the time but don’t make sense in later years. Coneheads, Anita Bryant, etc
What Teddy spilled was more than enough to keep Jimmy wasting away in Margaritaville.

That’s a good point - Democrat voters are stupid, but mostly innocent. They are the deceived, not the de deceivers.
Democrat politicians are evil. Perhaps not at first, but soon enough, they know full well they are exploiting the very people they claim to represent.
Where I might disagree with you is where these Leftist celebrities fall in the spectrum of deceived vs. deceivers. Like political leaders, celebrities are have the power to influence - and with power comes responsibility.
I don’t think they are any more innocent than the Leftist politicians.
The same is true of leftist teachers and college professors, Doctors Without Borders, Fauci type “civil servants”, etc.. If they are smart enough to get rich and famous, they are smart enough to know right from wrong, and are not innocent.
