I’m still alive is all the proof you need
Used to be all the potheads would get paranoid they were going to get pulled over, so they would try to drive extra-safe, which often resulted in them driving below the speed limit and calling more attention to themselves :)
I remember climbing down from reefer ridge behind the dorm and driving to a local theater with some guys. At some point, I asked my foot to press the brake pedal and it didn’t hear me.
Smogged my car at 17th and Capitola!
Pot made me afraid of my shadow. Quit after the first or second time. Could have been 4th. Forget.
We take morning walks every day. It has become more and more common to have a car drive by reeking of pot smoke. A commercial truck driver would lose their license over that.
Well, just like drunk driving, if you do it - you better do it really, really well. Otherwise people could die and you could wind up in prison.
What I like are all the First Generation drivers near me, who quite obviously didn't grow up riding in the car with Mom and Dad. Like they always like to mention "the first in their family to go to college," people near me are"the first in their family to own a car."
Is a drug test required for a CDL? (Yes). Are CDL holders required to submit to random drug test? (Again, yes.) Gee, do you think there’s a reason for this or are CDL license holders just being picked on?
With certainty driving high impairs driving and will kill innocent people. Enough with this incremental “medical Marijuana” pot is safe idiocy.
impaired judgment is impaired judgment
several high school friends were killed by a driver who was high
Officer: “Do you know how fast you were going?”
Driver: “Umm…seven thousand?”
Officer. “Seven. You were going SEVEN.”
My story shows how much America has changed.
When I drove stoned I carried a pint of whiskey and a Johnny Cash 8-track on the seat beside me, the purpose was to slip in the Cash tape and take a big swig of whiskey if I got stopped for any driving irregularity.
But now I've discovered caffeine pills at Walgreen's and CVS.Problem solved.
Although I'm forced to admit that what I did was horribly stupid and irresponsible.
When pulled over, I can say I’m licensed to Fly.
Way, way back when it was a reputable magazine (might still be), Car and Driver magazine did a driving test that looked at driving “high” on pot.
They did one involving alcohol also. Both were done at an isolated facility, away from real traffic. The testing involved slaloms around cones and stopping tests. I’m sure that somewhere out there, both tests are available to read. Might be on microfiche or something though. :)
It is getting annoying to drive in Colorado. I seem to constantly get behind drivers going back and forth between 45-65 mph.
Panama Red, never smoked it, but had the album by The New Riders of The Purple Sage. The thing about being high, and this was 50 years ago, was that me and friends could always snap out of it for a little while and temporarily pass for being straight (Visine helped). We used to say “it’s Andy Normal time” when we had to converse with responsible citizens. After a few minutes we’d lapse back into being stoned hippies.
Hey, man. Pot makes me a better driver. And it makes me SMARTER.
