A culture of judgment and ridicule is perfectly acceptable, even encouraged, towards people who can control the circumstances causing such judgment and ridicule.
“entertainment-driven society”
Hadn’t heard that phrase prior to your entry but it is very insightful. I believe one of the major things that has changed in our society is our lack of reality. Our heroes are super villains or sport competitors both lacking any substance. Just because a person can go through CGI and appear special doesn’t make them such. And sporting players fail far more than they succeed.
Our world is full of people trying to make a splash into society with over the top acts that are wasted on people who are too gullible to realize they’ve been had and their wallet is empty. I haven’t attended a pro sporting event in over 30 years and the last movie I watched was not at the theater and I fell asleep on it at home. I do my hobbies now and I’m afraid entertainment is within my self and not controlled by other people and their foolish efforts. I don’t have enough time left on this rock to start with trying to separate reality with stupidity and I have no love for those that hurt people on their way to “stardom.” This video was one of those cases. Thanks for getting back to me.
